Heard of membrane sweep to help kick start labor ? Here is what the process involves!

🔹What is a membrane sweep ?

A membrane sweep is essentially a way to try to induce labor. It involves your Dr “sweeping” a gloved finger between the amniotic sac and your cervix.⁣⁠

This sweeping motion helps to separate the amniotic sac from your cervix, which in turn can release prostaglandins and may trigger your uterus to begin contracting. ⁣⁠

🔹Why you might need one ?

If you are towards the end of your pregnancy, and want to avoid medical induction, membrane sweep is generally the first intervention that may be offered to kick start labor.

🔹Are there any risks involved ?

As with any medical interventions, there are some risks/cons of membrane sweep as well

🔺It can be quite uncomfortable
🔺It may cause some bleeding
🔺It can also cause cramping that may be confused for contractions
🔺There is a small chance your water breaks

It was done when I was in pain and then checked me every hour I begged them saying please don't do it I don't know how to bear this pain, they said do not tighten the body I didn't know how to loosen it at all, if at all they told me how to cope with that pain I would have probably. Labor was not very painful but this was hell

I had this and it made me go into labour the next day... it hurts so much. It was more painful than labour 😂

This is quite painful and there is blood too.... Some Doctors do it without consent in their arrogance of knowing what's best.... Please go for good Childbirth education like AMANI BIRTH
