I know everyone’s different and has different experiences. I was asked if I wanted them and have had my membranes swept for all 3 babies and they have never hurt and I have gone into labor within 24 hours with each. I know that’s probably extremely unusual 🤣 I plan on doing it for my current pregnancy in a few weeks!

39 weeks and due to be induced as soon a baby is fixed for at least 24hrs. I'm definitely requesting for a sweep instead. Thank you ❤

38w3days here, my ob clinic is awesome, they only do pelvic exams if we ask, and they offer a stretch and sweep at 39week but let you know its completely optional. If im still pregnant come next appointment I plan to do it, i remember the pain I had with my first, getting it done but it did almost nothing for me. (Had it done at 38w, 39w, and 40w. And was induced at 41w) but I've progressed more on my own with this on so hoping it will actually do something and be worth the pain haha. 😊

I'm getting a sweep done tomorrow. I'm scheduled to be induced on Monday (it's currently Wednesday), and I REALLY don't want to be induced.

38 weeks 4 days and my Doctor performed a membrane sweep yesterday which was surprisingly not as bad as I expected. I haven’t had any contractions all pregnancy so fingers crossed the membrane sweep gets things going

Yes, I got one done. Ridiculous I was never told. I went into labor 2 days later. I was so naive😢

Your vibe is great. Thx for explaining! I had never heard of this and was trying to educate myself, the internet at large made me even more confused. This however - great stuff! Including the jar! Superhelpful.

I just had this done today because I desperately want a VBAC and may not go beyond my due date (I cannot be medically induced because baby has a weird umbilical cord). I am praying it works.

I got it done when my doctor was checking my cervix at 39 weeks. She didn't ask, she just said she did it while checking my cervix. It didn't hurt, but I was annoyed that she didn't warn me beforehand.

I gave birth 2 days later.

I'm 16 weeks with my 1st child and I'm absolutely mortified. I've read so many stories of doctors doing membrane sweeps without consent so that the patients labor fits into their schedule. 😢 Not knowing alot of these labor procedures and what options I have really has me nervous.

On my due date, my midwife did the check up and told me: “today you are going to have this baby”. In less than an hour of leaving her office, I already was feeling bad and started contractions soon after. I gave birth the next day. To this day (22 years later) I still don’t know what she did, but I am convinced that she did something to me to cause the labor. She never asked me if I wanted to be induced, but she was convinced I was going to give birth right away. That means that she did something to me without my consent.

Thank you. I was looking for a membrane sweep video that also covered risks. I’ll be using this one now for my students!

Pregnant with my first baby. My baby supposedly has FGR, but we think he is bigger than they say (another long story). I am currently 38 weeks, and my doctor asked me today if I’d like this procedure done. I had heard briefly about it, but hadn’t done enough research to feel comfortable with just saying yes. Now I’m doing research. I don’t want a medically induced labor. My goal was to go into labor naturally and spontaneously. I have heard, however, that risk of stillbirth increases in the 39th week of pregnancy, and I obviously don’t want that. I told my doctor I’d let her know at the appointment next week what I’d like to do, but I’m still not sure. All the videos I’m watching say that this is best if done at 40 weeks. My due date is the day before Thanksgiving, and I don’t know if they’re suggesting it in part for convenience or not. Anyone have a similar experience?

I loved this video. ❤️ Thank you for sharing!! Can you tell me what you used as the cervix (the brownish item) you used for your prop please?

I just got a membrane sweep done yesterday at 41+1. It was on the mofo end pain-wise, which is not entirely unexpected as I have a pelvic pain condition that makes insertion painful to begin with. Almost 24 hours since the sweep and just have spotting & cramping. May do another sweep at the next appointment unless I go into labor before then.

Wait, Doctors could do this without asking and is this permanented. Could they still do this without you knowing if you say no
