This explains a particular situation my daughter had. Thanks for this. She was not told this was going to happen during a cervix check. She felt violated. Now it makes sense.

She speaks the truth again. Had it done in august and it was painful but put me in labor within hours. Works if your baby’s overdue as mine was!

I’m pregnant and I’m not even scared of the giving birth part I’m scared of getting bad doctors or nurses and being mistreated or not informed about things like so many other women have to deal with or having them turn my entire pregnancy into something only about my weight because I’ve heard some obs will be biased against people with certain bmi and I understand there’s more risk than if you’re a lower more normal bmi but I’ve heard of women’s entire experience being almost exclusively about their weight and not about their pregnancy or their baby or being dismissed more because of size I’m not morbidly obese by any means but I’ve already dealt with people in the medical field dismissing health issues because of my weight and that caused me to be undiagnosed for years because they kept saying it was because of my weight but the reason I gained weight is because of those issues not the other way around I’m so scared I’m going to be mistreated

Mistreatment shouldn’t be something we have to worry about so much :((

Experienced it a month ago. It is insanely painful.

I got one done two days ago! I will repeat at week 39. I am not allowed to be medically induced so this is my last chance to avoid a c-section on my due date. I hated my last c section. Trying to avoid at all costs.

That happened to me (without my prior knowledge and consent) in a clinic appointment. I was maybe 37w (unsure of EDC because I became pregnant soon after miscarriage) and the doc decided I needed to deliver. I was 2 cm dilated and I didn't go into labor. L& D was forced on me, and my body cooperated later that night. She was clearly early and struggled a bit after delivery. I will never forget that awful experience.

I was 39 weeks when I got my membrane sweep. Immediately after I went into labor!! My doctor knew exactly what she was doing.

I think my doctor did this to me without telling me because my cervical exam started out fine and then ended up being super painful.. and I cried but she didnt tell me anything..

doctors saying its gonna be "uncomfortable" is the reason me and many others dont trust them and then they wonder why so many people dont listen XD i dont plan on consenting to anything unless its absolutely necessary bevause i do not trust doctors .-. unless they give me a reason to... gotta rebuild that trust especially since im mentally disabled and need people to be very direct and honest

I had a sweep yesterday at 4 CM dilated (39 weeks). I'm cramping and having some brown, mucusy discharge. No labor yet though 😢

Pretty sure this was done to me without my consent. At my 37-week appointment, a different OB than my regular saw me and wanted to do a cervical check, which I was ok with because I knew I was dilated and wanted to know how much. She took way longer than my regular OB, it was a million times more painful. I kept thinking to myself that she was trying to poke the baby. It was so painful and taking so long that I did demand she stop.

Had this done once with first baby and twice with second baby. Did nothing. 😂 Works if you're almost there. Also, it doesn't hurt for everyone! Just mildly uncomfortable sometimes.

I was hesitant at first and my dr made sure I was okay she felt bad that she thought she forced me. She didn’t! I was just scared of the unknown. Absolutely 0 pain although I have high pain tolerance. And I still don’t know what a contraction is even after explanations lol. And I already had one baby last year 😂
Lost mucus plug/ bloody show 4-5hours after and having contractions now

3cm dilated 80% effaced/thinned and whatever -1 means

So nervous😂 packing like crazy rn
