Are you struggling with compulsive exercise, exercise addiction, over-exercise? YOU ARE NOT ALONE. In this video, I share my story and things that helped me find a balanced relationship to exercise. The information in this video is based on my own personal experience and does not replace medical advice. If you are struggling with an eating disorder or exercise addiction please seek help. If you have struggled with a disordered relationship to fitness, this video is for you. If you feel anxious when you don’t exercise or feel like exercise controls your life, this video is for you.

I wanted to film this video because more and more I see people struggle with this issue. Its pretty sad that MOST people I know struggle with a disordered relationship to fitness and their bodies. Its time we talk about this subject. GET IT OUT IN THE OPEN. And support each other in bravely moving forward towards a healthier relationship with ourselves, our bodies, and exercise.

Does this video resonate with you? In our "crazy to workout culture," it's ALL TOO COMMON to become an exercise addict and develop an unhealthy need to workout. This addiction has serious health consequences for both your mind and body. Not only can you struggle with a lifetime of injury, illness, and chronic pain but your MIND also suffers from anxiety, compulsive thoughts, and depression. The only way to help yourself in HEALING is to change the BEHAVIORS and THOUGHTS that keep you addicted to fitness. Here are some of the ways I've helped myself recover from exercise addiction to find balance:

Balance is harder than extremes. But it is possible if you practice and keep practicing.

Please know that nonpart of this process will be easy. But it’s so worth it. You are so worth it. And you are brave enough, smart enough, and strong enough to do it. You deserve to feel good. And life changes every second. So can you.

Your body wants to be loved and accepted. Not manipulated and controlled. JUST LIKE YOU WANT TO BE LOVED AND ACCEPTED NOT MANIPULATED AND CONTROLLED. I hope this post and video served you in some way in looking at your relationship to yourself, to fitness, and to your world. Please know that you are not alone and YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS. I'm here for you and cheering for you. Be good to yourself my friend.

Love,

Caroline

Honestly can’t thank you enough for posting this video. I’m on vacation at the moment with my boyfriend and his family in NC, I’m having an amazing time but I’ve been making myself run in the heat everyday as well as swimming, paddle boarding, etc. I was really ill yesterday so feel super weak this morning but I felt so guilty about not going for a run and didn’t know whether to go or not. I watched your video to help me and I can happily say I didn’t make myself go for a run thanks to you. I want to enjoy my time here and not let it (or me) be ruled by my unhealthy relationship with exercise right now. Thank you again xxx

thank you for making this but i am not willing to recover. Despite my RSI injury as my doctor called it i cannot stop to exercise, I just cant because its the only thing that i have that makes me feel good. Today is one of my rest days and i cannot put it into words how much i haete it, i feel bad, depressed, guilty, fat because i ate as my body rqequested. It is my greatest passion of my life running but it has long become a way to control my body, a way to escpe all the bad feelings. I cant let go of that bcause thqe pain of not exercise is thousand times greater than the injury itself. I have a history of anorexia athletica, when i had to stop exercise all together until i gained my current weight of 52kg. it was hell.

A good way to beat exercise addiction is to not listen to music when you workout so your brain gets less of a reward (dopamine).

Thank you for the video! I didn’t want to accept the fact that I have sport addiction, everyone told me “woow it’s so good to be sportive as you are” currently I train 2-3 times a day, sometimes also add activities like ice skating, bike and etc …i can’t do any of my plans if i didn’t train and can’t go anywhere if i have upcoming training, I feel awful if I don’t train, can’t lose weight because of the crazy cortisol level, once a month I feel very stressed, sleepy and dead so just sitting in the room and eating crazy and sleep for a week , and after start to train again … recently i traumatized my groin, couldn’t participate in competition and realized that all these is not normal, my life is not balanced at all and that there is nothing in my head except thinkings about my body condition, food, exercises ..

Thanks I have driven myself to almost passing out at work from over exercising and intermittent fasting for 16 hours most days. I am now forced to rest at home and eat proper and regular meals, still eating healthy but I'm needing to eat as soon as I wake, then lunch and dinner and im too weak to do much, I went grocery shopping and got lightheaded again and felt like I might end up passing out. Not sure how to recover, I am scared to go back to work as my job is physical and I feel so weak and scared to pass out again. I know I need to rest and recover for a few weeks and im willing to do that. I'm seeing a psychologist on monday, but sunday I almost passed out and half my face went numb and it was quite scary, my heart also raced and my blood pressure went high. I thought I wa shaving a stroke or going to die. I have been told the level ive been exercising at could kill me if I don't stop. So yes, I need help and support on how to recover, I will talk to a psychologist tomorow and see what she says.

What else do you enjoy that is notunhealthy? You can do that activity instead of overexercising.

Thank you so much for this video. I am currently recovering from an unhealthy relationship with exercise. I pushed my body so much it broke in both legs at the same time, and thankfully now it’s almost recovered. But I never stopped exercising, I did much less as I couldn’t run in this time, but I still worked my upper body a lot. I cry every time before starting a workout as it hurts so much to do it mentally, so I am trying to go easier on myself but it’s still really hard. I am always proud for completing even a small 15min workout, but it still makes me cry as I push myself way too hard. I’m trying to improve, it’s getting a bit better. Thank you so Much, this video really helped me. Sending love to all🤍

The most important step is:
to accept Jesus Christ and ask for His help 😇🙏🏻

All exercise is unnecessary. Do you ever see bears or lions needlessly running around? It's good to move around like walk and swimming, but exercising not only wastes energy on a cellular but also on a mental level, because your brain thinks that what you're doing is important. You're also damaging your body over time. You're causing cells to regenerate constantly which is using up and causing more growth than otherwise would happen. Strength is also not determined by how big your muscles are or how you look, how you look is determined by genetics and actually the stronger you are at something the smaller the muscle becomes. Bigger muscles are inefficient. Only people who need to lift will grow their muscle size, humans are really not meant to lift heavy things. The longest living animals and people are the laziest.
