10 Cheapest towns to live in Texas

Welcome back everyone let’s talk about Texas and where the cheapest place to live might be. Texas has become a hot spot for inward migration for some years now. If you are one of the people thinking about calling a realtor and a moving company. Maybe this video will help you find your new home.
The cheap places in Texas are going to be out of the way small towns. You won't find Houston, Dallas, or Austin on the list. Enjoy

If you enjoy these videos I would love to hear about it. Most of these videos are made to help people who are thinking about relocating, looking for real estate, or just wanting to learn about the United States. We look at the best and worst cities, states, towns, and neighborhoods in the United States. But, most of the time focus on the negative side of locations. If you only want some happy positive information about a city, town, or state, I would suggest looking up local mortgage and real estate companies or maybe the locations website. They are trying to sell you something so it will be nothing but sunshine, rainbows, and a bunch of smoke up your skirt. They won't tell you about crime, poverty, bail bondsmen, or insurance you'll need because of natural disasters. I will. And I will try and make it entertaining.

My grandad lived in Haskell Texas. He was a Texas Ranger..When he was older he worked at the local jail as a guard. He was 85 yrs old when he retired. We used to tease him about all the desperate criminals that were in the Haskell jail..He was the best grandad. He lived to be 96 yrs old.

A couple of decades ago, Presidio had the National Weather Service stop reporting their weather because in the middle of summer, when the entire state was withering from the Texas heat, Presidio was routinely the hottest recorded temperature in the nation. They felt it wasn't good for tourism to let that little secret out.

We live rural near Harlingen Texas. Also the lowest cost of living and home costs in the USA. We are near South Padre Island and Brownsville. Lots to see and do. Cameron County is 85% Hispanic and very low crime rate. The roads are bad but the schools are great so I respect their priorities.

Something to bear in mind: Texas has no state income tax, but the State is going to make up that revenue somehow. Check any property tax rates in your target community while looking at properties.

Thanks Briggs. My great grand daddy lived and died in Hebronville, Texas. I haven't thought of that place in a long time. When I was a kid visiting from East Texas I always thought it was so exotic there. LOL

Nice video! I live in a town mentioned here, it can be little challenging because I have to drive 3hrs for major shopping..people are very nice and welcoming..one good thing is you can save alot of money living in a tiny town..

I live in Texas, and agree with most of what you picked. I can think of a lot of others, but I ain't saying which ones. We don't want a bunch of Californians moving here, send them to Idaho, I hear their loved out there:)

I'm Texan and can tell you that none of these towns are places where you want to live. There's a reason why they're so cheap.

I've been to some of these places and there is a good reason why they are cheap.

FYI Cuero, TX is great and nice to live in and pretty cheap and great community! In the end owning your property is key and to own land is priceless! Wherever you go just bring the love you want and you won't be bored! I'm a Texan and I love it!

Hi Briggs. Really like this one. No snow. My grandparents had a winter house. My grandmother would send me letters ( b4 computers) starting with hi y'all 😎

I was not expecting actual TOWNS (and I can think of many much better than your selections), but smaller cities in the Lone Star.
So, might I suggest you do a 10 smaller cities in Texas segment spotlighting Abilene, Waco, Temple, College Station, Tyler, San Angelo, Victoria, Wichita Falls, Midland, Galveston...

Jimmy Dean was a famous C&W singer. Remember "Big Bad John?" He had his own TV show when there were only 4 networks (counting PBS). All BEFORE he started the sausage company.

My wife is from Plainview and I'm 30 miles from Pampa. What is interesting to me, seeing both on the list, is they have the same vibe to me. You are right on Pampa's waterpark and they do occasionally get decent concerts for a city their size.

Ive travelled through Pampa and Plainview most of my life and both of those towns are really growing up compared to what they were when I was a kid.
Plainview is roughly halfway between Amarillo and Lubbock. Lots of agribusiness, farming related companies. Plus a Walmart distribution Center.
Pampa is in the east part of the Texas Panhandle. Lots of oil-gas companies and farming.
No way in heck would I want to live in either one of them.
