Just remember, it's not as easy if the person is dehydrated.

If only all of our patients had veins like that….or even ONE!

1 tip that’s worked for me. Of course not everyone has the time. But, PUT YOUR TOURNIQUET ON BEFORE YOU SET UP EVERYTHING ELSE. Let the vein “cook” if you will.

Hahaha That has to be the easiest stick of all time

Don't put an iv near the thumb on the wrist. I had a nurse hit a nerve. It hurt so much even after a week of surgery it still hurts.

Quite a few things I would suggest for new medical workers: If someone says they are hard stick, believe them. Don't be afraid to ask for help from someone else if you are struggling. PLEASE do not dig into your patient's arm if there is a ton of struggle for you to find it. Don't stick without letting them know you're ready unless they tell you not to (I am one of those who has to watch and hear everything as they do it). Don't worry yourself silly if someone has to redo the IV you just did. Sometimes they try to slip out of the veins if the person's veins love to roll or are tricky to get in the first place. If you feel better about it, ask your patient "Hey, where have you had success getting IV/Blood draw in the past?" (Chronic pain person who's had plenty of awful experience and wants to make it easier on providers and their patients as much as possible)

it is not right, the blood will start running all the way into the small cup. Even if you flash it and lock, blood will be dropping on the patient skin. Just lock before the blood will fill the cup. It is hard to clean cup properly

Use a heating pad or anything that's warm to aid in difficult IV sticks. Heat helps dilate veins

You could put the tegaderm on correctly.... With the little inlet over the loop in the iv tubing...

Well done. The only thing I can add is… if you start with the right vein finish with the right vein.

I’m a nursing student, my hands are shaking everytime we do return demonstration. I keep telling myself it’s normal & i’ll get better. Do you have any tips/or motivation to improve my performance?

Not a nurse but definitely give the vessles time to fill after placing the tourniquet.... unless you have super easy veins like his 😂

Genuine question... I thought you're not supposed to insert IV cannula near the joints?
