A message from Kristine, founder of NurseInTheMaking📣
My name is Kristine and I survived nursing school…and you can too!
Nurse In The Making was inspired during my time in nursing school. I immediately struggled and decided to create my own study guides. These guides have helped me personally as well as many others make nursing school just a little more manageable.I hope you find comfort knowing that everyone struggles at times. Nursing school is emotionally and physically draining. I hope these informative, clean, and simple guides help you navigate through all the information because there is A LOT of it in nursing school.

Happy Studying Future Nurses. Don't forget to enjoy the journey!

"Choose a vein that is palpable and bouncy"
"Avoid veins that roll"
Alright, so that excludes 97% of real world patients.

My problem is I can’t see or palpate a vein. I need a vein finder and I’ll always get it. Unless someone is vascular or pale I can’t see it. I remember a nurse showing me a vein and saying look how bouncy it is. I’m over here like it feels like regular skin. Idk if it’s because of my color deficiency in my eye but it’s hard to see the veins

I've had better success pushing the needle 1-2mm further in upon flashback before advancing the catheter

Man if only my nurses knew these steps. My arm wouldn't have so much damage as it does now

Patients always tell me to choose the vein that I can see. They tell me not to go for the ones that are bouncy. Why is that?

The vein in my right arm is just right when blood has to be drawn or an IV inserted. But I HATE when the IV has to be inserted into my hand before my surgeries . It hurts!
