Great video but I was always taught when you see blood return release the tourniquet never flush with it on.

I “lose”the vein once I feel it & can’t see it when I go to put needle in… then have to keep feeling for it. Very aggravating. It’s easier when you see the veins

This video was really helpful! Doing IV insertion and removal test off today. And for those saying she spoke too fast you can change the speed under playback settings so they are faster/slower.

Can you please upload a video that demonstrates how to draw blood from an iv site using a vacutainer tube for Iab tests? It would be greatly helpful. 🙂

I don’t agree with putting the tape on the side rail. Exposure to infection at the site .

You need to release the tourniquet before flushing. Geriatric patient veins will not tolerate this extra volume. You can "pop" your vein, thus needing to start an IV in a new location.

We would appreciate if you could zoom in and perhaps slow down all steps just a little bit next time 😉

Shouldn't you remove the tourniquet BEFORE flushing the vein?🤔

I was practicing an iv yesterday and I got flash back from my needle, kept trying to advance my catheter but it wouldn’t advance and it was causing dimpling over the vein and my classmate complained of pain. Did I advance the catheter too early? Or did I not go deep enough with the needle? Thanks! Great video!

Yep, put the tape on the side rail so you can risk the patient of contracting infection

I just have never had the confidence to keep trying! Anything else, I'm good at, including phlebotomy but IV's and I just don't get along!? I've been a Nurse longer than I want to say!

At the end you should secure the catheter in a loop on patients hand to prevent it from flying around and banging into things, u prob just forgot to mention it and demonstrate it.

I don’t agree with keeping the tourny on while you scrub. Tourney should be in less than 1 min

Too bad the camera is so far most of the time . Would have been nice to focus on what she is doing . We don’t need to see the patient or the whole room
