The days I hit the recommended target range for potassium in my diet, I feel better both physically and emotionally. The days I don't, I feel like crap physically and start sinking into depression again. It's amazing how potassium makes that much difference. It takes an effort to hit that target range on potassium, but it sure is worth it for me.

Dr. Berg, I would like to recommend to include DARK CHOCOLATE, since apparently 100g of pure cacao contain as much as 1522mg of Potassium, however, since it also has very high amounts of Magnesium, Copper and Manganese, 50mg of pure cacao would still bring 700mg of Potassium and good levels of other minerals. Mix that with butter, a sweetener, and there's an incredibly healthy treat that it's amazingly nutritious.

Great info. I was found to be very low in potassium twice in my life. Both times the doctors were very concerned and one once called me to go immediately to the drug store. He called ahead. When I got to the store the pharmacist was ready for me and gave me a supplement with a glass of water right there and then. The doctor followed up and told me to take a potassium supplement (prescription) every day until all used. Another time, many years later, I was in the ER and they said my potassium was dangerously depleted. Both times I did not have any symptoms of low potassium. They gave me a horrible tasting white liquid and kept me in the hospital overnight. Serious stuff. I get it checked every time I get a blood test. Now I eat several avocados a week and lots of leafy vegetables, squashes, salmon, and OTC supplements. BTW, I have been following your advice for about eight months now. I lost 52 pounds so far and without hunger or cravings or temptation for sugar or carbs. Amazing. Thanks doc.

Funny thing, Dr. Berg. Ever since I've increased my potassium intake not only have the junk food cravings diminished but my satiation and stomach stretch response have improved greatly. Smaller portions just got naturally easy!

There’s a recipe with beet tops called botwinka, a soup where you incorporate the beets, beet tops and potatoes. You dice everything and boil the tops first then add the roots and various spices :)

I noticed that when you use baking cacao (that's the one without added sugar), they usually add something to regulate acidity, and potassium plays a large roll and is usually added in large quantities. The one I use has 4000 mg potassium out of 100g cacao. It isn't potassium citrate, but potassium carbonate, but hey - it's something.

So if you choose to add cacao to your shake for taste and for other health benefits (phytonutrients and so on), you could also benefit from the added potassium. Unfortunately, they usually don't give out the information how much potassium actually is in there.

It would be cool if you mentioned that, maybe in a future video. By adding 1 Tablespoon of cacao to your daily shake, you might have also added about 500 mg of potassium to your diet already. Wouldn't that be great to know?

Dr.Berg I appreciate all the work that you have put in to educate a lot of people. I studied medicine myself and was pretty much hard core medical before I started watching your videos . You are one of the guys that has helped me to look at the bigger picture of all things health related. That it is not all about taking drugs for any issue health related. I come from a metric world and I don't have a problem converting oz to grams or cups, grams, oz. There is one thing with spinach I won't get into the rest of the info. I use Cronometer and 1cup or 1oz or 30grams of spinach is 167mg of potassium. One other thing is when you talk about how much protein you always mention 3 - 6 oz. Now that is 90 to 180 grams of protein which would be way to much for most people. Because I have watched so many of your videos I know that you are talking about portion size per meal with foods that have protein in them like stake, burger, salmon and so on. The issue that I have here is that not everyone knows what this is all about. It might be better to find some other way of explaining to people what their protein intake per day should be. Keep up the good work Dr.Berg....

I notice a lot of your listeners are worried about greens that contain oxalates. Maybe you could mention that vegetables in the cabbage family are oxalate free and name them for them so they know. Also evdive and the radicchio family are excellent for the kidneys
