50 page reading on the first day of school. Lucky. I had to read a 600 page book before school started for that school year, take notes, do a study guide, do a couple assignments and then take a test on it the second week of school.

If you understand the concept of the subject in the chapter and able to create questions and can answer about it. You don't need to memorize about it. Understanding concept - Grasping Ideas - Correlations

My teacher would assign hw with the reading so my strat was to take notes on the reading keeping in mind key points and ideas that were on and not on the homework. I would make sure to color code based off of important people, places, ideas, definitions, and other stuff. After finishing my notes I do the homework (usually the next day bc we were given 3-5 days to read due to block schedule) using my notes as a guide while also using my textbook.
The idea for the hw was to make it so we wouldn’t have to take notes but the questions were so awful that I wouldn’t be able to remember anything if I didn’t take my own notes.

Also this was for AP World history, which I ended up getting an A first semester and B second in the class (bc the quizzes were stupidly specific and I wouldn’t remember some details no matter how hard I studied) and a 4 on the AP.

I do this but with every paragraph so that I don’t have to do everything at once and it helps with staying focused!
