Thanks Bob. For some reason I passed over No Man's Sky for years. I watched one of your videos about a year ago and I was convinced. So in the last year or so I've been amazed by the FREE updates that really make a difference. Most games would sell you a DLC that don't add nearly as much to a game as these free updates in NMS. I really love this game.

Good to be watching you play again Bob. It’s been a while. It’s also been a long time since I’ve played NMS, so with the new update this week, I think it is time to start a new play through, and try and get a lot further than I have previously managed.

Bob, a terrain manipulator isn't necessary to dig up salvaged data next to damaged machinery if it's on flat ground. Walk to the salvaged data icon and switch to first person mode. Click E when you're right over the top of it. This also works for other buried items. Hillsides are iffy.. sometimes the items are too deep and WILL require the terrain manipulator.

I played this game a few years ago, and i got lost in it for ages. What ruined it was when i watched videos on it and found out people weren't being generous sending things in that space station. Turns out it was a dupe. I did it a few times and completely ruined my enthusiasm working towards a multi planet farm for some really expensive item. I can't even remember what it was now.

10:05 If salvaged data is close enough to the surface, you don't need the terrain manipulator to collect it, you just need to stand on top of it.

I'm watching this while I'm deciding if I want to buy the game. As someone who hasn't played the game it's hard to keep up with what you're doing in the menu's / inventories, but the general gist is clear enough to follow along. Despite that, I like the speed at which you're going and keeping us engaged 👍It's also nice to find a Let's Play that's recent, as the changes the updates bring to the game appear to be pretty significant.

I got lucky as a first time player. There was a paradise planet in the starting system. It's nice looking with trees, green grass, blue water, huge flying beetles, and storms are very rare. The only thing off was the pink sky as the day gets brighter, but evening and night time are beautiful near the ocean.
