“May take 10, 20, 50 tries…” There goes the fast and easy part of the title…

Edit: I don’t mind it taking this long or longer. This game is awesome. I’m very happy with NMS and it seeing what’s it’s become. Khraze <3 your coverage of videos in lots of your games!

You don't need to take down the shields, start with the engines and then destroy the ant-freighter canons then they will surrender. You can also just reload your last autosave and it will load up when you entered the system.

Just an FYI, you only need to take out the engines and then guns for it to surrender. Just makes it a little faster in those 20 + attempts without hitting all the shield nodes.

This game has such a nice community. Everyone has been so helpful since I started. Im still pretty new and have a lot to learn. But so many people will jump to answer questions when you're stuck. Nice stuff.

Faster way of doing this is to go to a space station in a neighbouring system, jump out get a restore point, then go to the pirate system, if it’s not the class you want, reload restore point, rinse and repeat!

Thanks for the vid, your solution worked really well.

I'd like to add the following bonuses of doing this, especially if you need units, ships and nanites:

First to add, I agree with other posts, its best to take out the shields slowly and destroy the fuel rods at the same time, then take out the warp engines and the dreadnought gives up.

Once thats done land, check the class, if it is not an S Class, go to the captain, demand tribute, return to ship. rinse and repeat.

My run to get an S Class took 24 attempts, results of the 24 runs was: 1 x A Class, 1 x B Class, 21 x C Class and the final 1 x S class with 25+13.

Bonuses for those that are leveling, or still completing all research:

1. Captain - Every run, if you see the captain on the bridge you can select "Demand Tribute" and recieve 6.767 Million units every time.
2. Nanites - Every time the dreadnought gives up, you gain around 450 to 490 Nanites.
3. S Class Ships - Lot of s class ships landing on the dreadnought during my 24 runs. I recorded 1 x exotic and 5 x S class comprised of solar / other, (Not sure if this was my system or not)

Total Gains of my 24 runs:

S Class Dreadnought: 25+13 (Could of been better lol)
Units: $155.64M
Nanites: 10810 Nanites (at 470 Average)

Hope this helps you :)

Fly between two systems that have spawned the fights, you can farm two instead of one.

Take out the engines first.
Then go into the canal, take out the shield generator wait for the fuel rod to come up. Shoot that I can get it all done in less than two minutes

Just fly into the shield and destroy 4 engines then 6 main turrets, it will immediately surrender, then land the ship, open scanning interface and check the rating. There is no bloody need to destroy the shield generators.

I've been away from NMS for a while, watching this video, seeing how menacing the new dreadnought looks make me want to come back

It's a flat 5% chance to be S Class in an Outlaw system. There are no modifiers to increase it.

You can also fly the trenches, go slow enough to shoot out the shiels AND the fuel rods that pop up where the shield globe was. Leave 1 fuel rod alone, which prevents the warp sequence timer, shoot out the engines then go shoot out the last fuel rod and the ship will surrender. You don't need to take out the turrets.

For me personally i've found some differences in my game. Warping out and back results in no pirate dreadnought after loading. Going to a space station to generate a save point also results in no pirate dreadnought after loading the save. I feel like the only tactic that works is to keep killing it, checking class and then reloading the auto save. Also when it disappears it seems to trigger a cooldown to completely screw you over. I spent probably half an hour just warping around after playing for a couple hours to spawn my 2nd pirate frigate. Sad

I really don't understand why they insist on making the freighter acquisition process effectively human torture.

This video was extremely helpful. Got my Dreadnaught last night and got an S class first try. Thanks for the information. Was very helpful!

You can transfer cargo between freighters. There is a tab above that says cargo go there and transfer

quickest way to make the dreadnaught surrender is to ignore the shields.. go for the warp drives first then followed by the anti-freighter cannons.. once you destroy those the dreadnaught will surrender..

Have been hunting for a S-class Ky'keen for hours now. Decided to search the YouTube to see if there were any tricks I wasn't aware of. Saw this, tried this, on my first time warping back into the system after a C-class I got an S. Thankyou so much for this video. I was going insane because I already stumbled across an S-class Gek on accident and I don't like the Gek as much so yeah. 😂😂😂❤

So the "guarantee" mentioned in the thumbnail that it is an S class is when it is an S class? Ok got it.

To everyone saying that this works it doesn’t…..if you leave your pirate encounter you’ll lose the opportunity entirely you have to get a backup save and then do this and that’s only when that type of ship spawns which means you have to jump to random systems until the dreadnaught spawns and then you reload your game 1 jump before and rinse and repeat this guy is full of BS
