S - Space. Create space between you and the food.

T - Time. Delay the gratification by 2 or 5 minutes.

O - Observe. Think about the thoughts that are creating the emotions driving you to want food. How can you deal with the emotions in a way that doesn't involve food?

When I get triggered by negative emotions, I eat my pain away, so I won't have to feel those emotions anymore.

I’ve realized that I’ve been emotionally eating as a child because I never knew how to handle my emotions. I was bullied (verbal and physical) and all I could remember was sneaking food and eating until I was beyond fullness. I still have this issue despite not being grade school for years! I really want to reverse and unlearn what became a habit for me. I’m going to try this and I hope this works for me. Thanks for sharing these tips!

All through out law school I turned to stress eating as my coping mechanism for the ungodly hours of studying and reading. Now that I have passed the bar, my family finally had the courage to tell me the truth about my weight and overall physical health. I hope to apply your tips with my weight loss plan this year. Thanks and God Bless 😇😇

I have a small container of fine Himalayan pink salt, magnesium and potassium mixture that I keep in the kitchen. I will take 2-3 dabs of it and drink some water. This has helped me kill my snack habit. Sometimes my body is craving minerals and I had to learn to stop feeding it salty junk food and just give it the minerals.

I think the hardest step for me is convincing my brain (idk what convinces my brain) to demand my body to Make spaace between me and the food

Making my own chocolate and cakes vastly reduces the binge eating. I'm not really sure why, but it changes my whole mindset, plus saves a small fortune. Well worth considering, still tastes great. Plus having a coffee instead of pop staves off gussling can after can, as it's more filling.

What shall I do, I've tried it, I would drink either green tea, coffee, chew gum, drink water but even then when I'm done I'll go back to eating

I have BED, i even got a gastric bypass to help me or else i would be bigger than i am. Ive been battling this demon since 7 or 8yo. Its hard, then i go on mad diets to lose weight then when emotion hit gained 10kg back, its an endless cycle. I wish i can be slim when i hit my target and maintain it, i have lost weight 3 times and fat again. I guess this will only stop the day i pass. This is how i deal with stress and anxiety.

This is what’s so hard so me. When I’m out and about I’m fine. When I’m home in my apartment the food is so close and I’m always thinking about it. Not to mention I get depressed being home

Do you feel as though there are two voices in your head and the dominate voice is the Eater and the passive voice knows better but becomes the Observer? The Observer takes over and becomes the Regretter, have to deal with the shame and regret? The goal is to conquer that initial dominate Eater voice. Very difficult.

How do you stop binging when you order food or go out to get it? I don’t keep stuff in the house but do order in or go out to eat.

I dont even have any negative feelings for eating, i just do it because i know it tastes nice and its like a dopamine rush. I know theres probably an underlying problem but i have no idea how to find out what it is
