Good stuff - going to try again to install Kubuntu alongside Win10 following your video. Historically, I got hung up setting up different partitions (/root, /swap, etc...) depending on what video or document I was trying to follow - you are the first I have seen that doesn't go through creating multiple partitions. Can I assume the necessary partitions created by the install 'below' root mount point? Sorry if I use the wrong terms -- several Decades of Windows does that ;)

You can also dual boot ubuntu by selecting install Ubuntu alongside with windows while setting it up by skipping shrinking C drive partition previously in windows :)

Thank you! What did you use to record this? Did you have to record your voice after filming the process?

I was following this guide which is been helpful so far. That said, when I arrive to the "Installation type" I notice that is not recognizing the Win10 installation, I can go on with the "something else" option and find the free space partition on it but I am wondering if I continue with it I am going to end up missing my Win OS or something like that, Am I right to be wary of it? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Great video, I've completed this process previously and all is fine initially but at some point windows updats or similar has overwritten the boot manager to launch straight into windows so I can no longer get to grub boot loader. Now it's 2021 and I wanna get back to using ubuntu again instead of just windows. Is this still an issue from time to time? And if so what's the procedure to restore dual boot capacity? Thanks in advance.

@Savvy I like your videos but I feel Linux should be installed with a separate home and root folder. Makes it easy to distro hop and change Linux types without losing personal files

I had lots of problems trying to dual boot- usually a Windows update wrecking GRUB. I finally got a SATA drive power switch thing and just push the button to power the drive I want to boot from.

I’m getting so, so many issues…

1. I have NO efi
2. All of the drives are ntfs
3. Nothing says “windows boot manager”

My actual boot drive isn’t even displayed as the boot drive, so do I select that as boot drive? Why would I want my boot drive for windows to be my boot drive for Ubuntu?

Why can’t I just install this on an external drive? Why can’t I do this in a simpler way? Why?

Why’s this so hard? I’m actually about to buy another computer for this.
