Death of Queen Elizabeth II announced at Buckingham Palace

A notice announcing death of Queen Elizabeth II has been attached to the front gates of Buckingham Palace in London.

Britain's longest-serving monarch Queen Elizabeth died at the age of 96, the Buckingham Palace said Thursday (Sept. 8).

"The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon," said the palace.

I did not know her and never met her, yet some how this is a personal loss for me. She has been there my entire life, I will miss knowing she is there. I am Canadian and I did get to see her once in person in the late 1950's, when she did a cross Canada tour and stopped in my home town. I remember that day like yesterday.

She was a great Personality in the minds of all people around the world not forgettable ever. I cherish the memory of having had a glimpse of the Queen a few feet away in person at my 11th age in Bangalore when she visited India in 1961 or so.
