Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday evening that Queen Elizabeth II had died peacefully at Balmoral in Scotland.

The world's media interrupted their regular broadcasting to announce the news after concerns grew throughout the day worldwide. Footage shows broadcasts from Italy, the US, France and Germany. After the announcement, the flag at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle flew at half-mast to signal the Queen's death

i love how this video perfectly portrays each country’s mannerisms, germany being straight to the point, italy being somewhat laid back about it, france being elegant, while america fumbles it’s words

Italy: Very sentimental, heartfelt voice.
France: Very elegant and refined.
Germany: Very precise.
USA: Can't even say a phrase without stumbling.

As always, a full, thorough, detailed and accurate offering from the Germans. And so straight to the point. In this age of waffling around, I find it refreshing.

I can really appreciate how Germany told the news. Straight to the point and yet full of consoling details

In German everyday culture, it is a form of politeness, to get straight to the point, thus not wasting the time of others. This is especially true for important information, like when a very important person has died. It also puts aside your own importance, when delivering news, and emphasises the importance of the news and the person its about.

As a British citizen who speaks a little Italian, French and German, the German announcement moves me close to tears.

I like the simple background with the black and white portrait in the background on the German news, and the calm voice in which the news are presented. I think it is a very respectful way of spreading the news.

As a South African living in Germany, that was the most German thing possible. No waffling, direct, informative and the order in which each line was said was weighted in complete perfect hierarchy. Herzlichen Glückwunsch Deutschland!

Feels chilling, for some reason. Truly shows the impact this woman had that the entire world paused briefly at the announcement of her passing.

Germany, no wasting time and straight to the point. France, gives the announcement in a soothing manner. US, fumbles the announcement and is unsure of what to say.

I’ve worked in nursing homes, I’ve seen couples that were married for so long die just months apart, so much stress puts a lot of pressure on a persons heart and when you are already very old it’s much more dangerous. I believe the Queen was in a lot of stress and was suffering since her husband’s death.

Only thing is that the broadcasts of the French and German stations weren't interrupted but scheduled, so of course those announcements sound different. The announcement of her death was made at 6:30pm UK time (7:30 in France and Germany), however both of the broadcasts from France and Germany shown in this clip were the start of the 8 o'clock news.
Can we try to just write accurate captions? It cannot be too hard!

I'm not even a royalist but her Majesty has always been there and I feel that the World is just a little sadder with her not been there. And I cry for a person who I have never met. Thank you for your service.

*Whenever someone spoke of "The Queen" he meant Elizabeth II. There are few feats greater than achieving ownership of a noun.*
