Footage shows deputies fatally shooting 15-year-old Californian girl

Newly released law enforcement footage captures the moment California police fatally shot an unarmed 15-year-old girl who was a reported kidnapping victim.

On 27 September 2022, San Bernardino county sheriff’s deputies fired at Savannah Graziano on a side of a freeway after she exited the vehicle that her father, her suspected abductor, had been driving. Sheriff’s officials initially claimed it was unclear whether Savannah was shot by deputies or her father and alleged deputies didn’t realiise it was her when she got out of the car. Officials have repeatedly refused to release footage.

This video doesn’t appear to cover the fact that the police chief initially publicly blamed the girl and said that she was shooting at the cops (she clearly wasn’t) and then the department sat on the video and audio for TWO YEARS until a FOIA request was filed by multiple media groups. Beyond disgraceful.

It's irrelevant that they didn't know it was her. They were dumping clips into the car WHILE SHE WAS IN IT AND THEY KNEW THAT! The miracle is that she ever made it out of the vehicle.

The reason why the footage was never released is now obvious. The fact that no one was immediately charged or suspended is outrageous. The fact that, it would appear, that the officers involved were happy to turn up for work again and just pass this off as "accidental" just goes to illustrate the attitude that they are right and everyone else is wrong. Every police officer involved needs to be confronted with their actions and asked one very simple question "How in God's name could you open fire on a 15 year old unarmed girl who doing EXACTLY what she was instructed to do"? There are no excuses here. Savannah got out of the car as she was instructed to and got down on the floor. She then got up and moved towards the police officers, as she was ordered to. She was then gunned down by "law enforcement" officials. If anyone else had done this they would now be in jail. This is absolutely inexcusable. Police officers are supposed to be trained to deal with situations like this. The fact that they turned the area into a free-fire zone demonstrates how they are not.
