Body cam video shows deputy shoot 88-year-old armed former cop in own home during welfare check

A Hillsborough County deputy fatally shot an elderly man, who was once a police officer, inside his own home Tuesday in Riverview while attempting to do a welfare check, Sheriff Chad Chronister said.

Investigators say a neighbor on Longcrest Drive called first responders just before 7:30 a.m., expressing concern about the well-being of the older man, since identified by authorities as 88-year-old Ronald Ehrich, because she saw his garage door open and had not seen him in at least two days.

Whoa whoa whoa wait a minute. Did the guy actually have the gun in his hand when she shot him???? Because I did not see it nor did I hear anyone say he was actually armed at the time she fired. All they said was that he advanced. The man sounded confused and may not had been feeling well. He was asking where she was when she was hiding in another room. She asked him multiple times to come out and he finally did. Way too many "Welfare Checks" end up making things worse. Cops need to be better.

Of course the news would edit and cut stuff out. He warned her he had a gun, to leave. She has her gun drawn, and tells him to put his gun down. Its HIS house, he will tell her what to do. & warns he will kill her if she doesn't come out in the open and sit down. She refused, and killed him.
