„How are not all Germans alcoholic“

We are. All of us.

It's usually just done with cheaper wines. And Germany has an ass full of good, cheaper wines. Plus our bread is way too good to beat foreigners with it.

Mixing white wine with sparkling water is also popular in Poland, especially in summer.

Watering down wine goes back to ancient Greece and Rome. Drinking undiluted wine was considered barbaric. It's interesting to see Germany continuing the practice.

Edit: Thank you for all the upvotes

In the Balkans this is a very common drink. Usually consumed during weddings and similar feasts where you eat a lot. I love drinking it!

50 years in Germany: you finally found the perfect Riesling, but you still need another 10 years to decide if it’s better than the Spätburgunder!

In Hungary we do same. The hungarian name is Fröccs. Different amount of sparkling water mixed with white wine.

In Spain, Seville there is actually something similar, it's called rebujitos, which is a mix of Manzanilla wine and 7up, it is widely drunk in Sevilles fair. It was a way to not get drunk so quickly and it's refreshing.

The only wine you're allowed to dilute in France is cheap rosé. We put a large amount of ice cubes in it and let them melt a little. We call it "rosé piscine" ('swimming pool rosé')

After 15 years of living in Germany and now returned to Australia, my nightly glass of wine is actually a Weinschorle . Reduces calories and tastes fine. I find it refreshing and fulfils that idea that a glass of wine with dinner is something special.

Spaniards do it as well, we have Tinto de verano and kalimoxo, the tinto can be basic or lemon flavoured. For lemon, we mix wine with lemon fanta, for basic we mix sweet sparkling water with the wine.
Kalimoxo is wine mixed with coke.

The end of it is very accurate (I would have done the same) except for the weird Italian and French accent (very Slavic really ahahah). Anyway I like so much your channel! From Italia 😊

You know, there’s a thing called “spritz” in Italy (mostly veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia). It’s white wine and sparkling water. It’s great.

Defend yourself with some German Rye Bread. It can easily break those White Bread Fanatics. And then try Roco. It is Red Wine with Cola.

Watering down wine is common in Serbia as well. I love it, it's the best drink during summer festivities.

When I first moved to Germany, I bought groceries for my flat.

I wanted juice and saw two types next to each other. Being broke, I bought the cheaper one.

The next morning - my first day of work, too - I poured myself a full glass of juice. Only it wasn't juice.... it was wine! Turns out the juice was the other drink that was more expensive LOL

That was a bit of a cultural shock on all accounts hahahahaha :D

White wine and sparkling water is quite common in north west Croatia (part that was under Austrian rule) too. It's called gemišt, localisation from german gemichst (mixed). In coast, we mix red wine and normal water, called bevanda. Mixing wine with sodas is also popular among teens who like to drink cheap. It makes those shitty wines taste palatable.
