Took me a while to catch onto this, but when Hohenheim says "I'm sorry", he's not talking to Izumi. He's probably talking to the human soul he's about to expend in re-arranging her insides.

The moment Hoenheim says, "I see, I see" and he closes his eyes, he's finding the right soul for the job.

This dude scared the shit out of me thinking he killed her

Damn hohenheim rearranged Izumi's guts right in front of her husband

What I like about this is that after this scene we don’t see Izumi cough up blood anymore

Hohenheim is such a cool character. He's a walking Philosopher Stone, but unlike the Homunculi who do not care about humans one bit, Hohenheim befriended every soul inside of him and asks for their help instead of just using them as fuel. Every time he uses his Stone, the souls inside give him their help voluntarily. Hohenheim's a beautifully human character, despite being an all powerful immortal.

While trying to get the child she lost, she lost the ability to make more children. Poetic.

I love how, when Hohenheim is asked _who_ he is, the end of his answer is, "That's _what_ I am."

It's a small piece of characterization, yet it still shows that he hasn't let go of the idea that he's a monster.

Hohenheims last line in this clip is honestly one of the most chilling lines in the whole show

kinda forgot this scene was before or after his past scene, but I believe I was thinking, damn, his boys were running around across the country to search that damn stone and turns out their dad is one??

His reveal was one of the most amazing experience in my manga reading history. That line "I AM the Philosopher's Stone - given the form of a man and the name Van Hohenheim." was a real bombshell.

I love how this is such a beautiful show, that no one is meme-ing the fact that he "rearranged her insides"

The fact that All for One has the same english voice actor and he inflicted almost the exact same wound to all might that hohenheim just treated feels weirdly poetic to me

this is the most wholesome way for a father to rearrange his kids' teacher's insides

Can we just appreciate how tough Izumi is to live for almost 10 years with most of her insides missing, any lesser person would've asked for a mercy killing after a week just to relieve them from the pain

It's a good thing Hohenheim is a philosopher's stone, because I don't think he would survive being decked in the face like that from Sig otherwise. xD

Possibly my favourite part of the series.
Also an example how well Arakava wrote terrifying power.
Izumi usually appears as a terrifying powerhouse just on the edge of gag manga powers.
Yet here she appears small and helpless and even her husband is just a victim of the scene. MEanwhile Hohenheim puts for this mysteriously terrifying presence, his humility might actually reinforcing the image, since we know that he is considered to be a saint/god of healing in the east.
