But on a serious note, his father kind of deserved it. Ed has every right to be angry. I mean leaving your children to fend for themselves and then the mother dying? That's one of the reasons why I love this anime so much. Because it has that impact and that addicting quality to it. I couldn't take my eyes off of it because it taught me so much.

Preferred this Hoenheim compared to the original one, you can feel much more sympathy for him here because of his history and motivation. Also this version shows that he loves his children and Trisha a lot more compared to the one from the 2003 version.

What I find funny is Hohenheim could’ve easily used his stone to protect himself. You see Father doing this all the time even when he doesn’t expect to suddenly be attacked. This and the fact that he complains about not being warned suggests he’s fully aware that he deserved that decking to the face.

Yeah, you could spend the rest of the episode with Ed working out his animosity and suppressed anger towards his father with exposition and dialogue.... OR, just hit him really hard in the mush and get it over and done with.
