I have terrible insomnia. I clicked this video last night looking for something to help. It was only 6 minutes but I tried it anyway. I woke up this morning and I don’t remember a single thing about it. Thank you.

I tried this and it works.
The trick is that when you get into that 'no think' space, stay there.
One doesn't realise how tense you are until you've tried this.

It’s called progressive relaxation. They teach it a lot to people experiencing anxiety. My mom used to have me do it when I had panic attacks as a kid.

I came across this technique about a year ago. This lady goes much deeper into detail. It works. May take a little practice but keep it up. It works

Thank you for this thoughtful video. It's similar to yoga nidra. For me the key is to slow down the breathing, making it natural. I love the image of the lake too.

I use a similar method to relax my hippotherapy clients. I've been using it for years, and it works very effectively. Another possibility for those heavy, constant thinkers is for them to in their mind slowly repeat, "I feel very relaxed, very sleepy."

This does work; I used to have tons of problems getting to sleep.

I encountered this in print media from a member of the military, and this is essentially identical, but more thorough.

I use a similar method only I start at my toes, feet ankles ect. and moves up the body. I used this method on my children when they were small. It works for me. Staying asleep all night is the problem. I often wake at 3 or 4 in the morning.

I remenber being taught this relaxation method in Aikido training classes over 50 years ago.

Clearing the mind is tough. The imperative "Don't think" is counterproductive for me...it winds my mind up! BUT, allowing my mind to simply "set aside " its concerns does allow my mind to settle down and relax.
