While not wrong, this deserves a much deeper dive than will fit in the comments.
Far field effects fall off exponentially less the further from the source (by 1/R^2), so don’t sleep on a running microwave oven and you’ll be fine. Interestingly, microwave ovens operate at 2.45 GHz (non-ionizing) - and so does WiFi.

They are microwaves not Faraday cages some will leak is also subject to the inverse square law so standing a foot away is fine.
