As someone who meet their girlfriend when I was 17 and she was 35 I can say....the moment I turned 18 I was not an adult, and certainly not an adult with the life experience that would have counted up to her being 36.

You can not tell me you, dear Sterling, go and look at an 18 year old and think, yeah that sure is an adult and I can apply the same standards I apply to myself. That sure is an absolut mature person.

Now, if he was 28 and she was 45, the age gap would still be a big gap, but he would have had some adult years and experiences under his belt and would have had the chance to experience relationships with people more similiar to his age...they would be both adults with adult experiences.
