The Non-Canon Expert explains the actions and new explorations in the Force that Darth Plagueis would have undertaken once he had achieved the secret to immortality, focusing on furthering his knowledge of both the Living Force and Unifying Force.

I think the greatest strength of Darth Plagueis, his intellect, was also his greatest weakness. From what I can see, he was a very calm minded and rational person and this allowed him to understand the force greater than possibly anyone else. However, this calm mind likely made it hard for him to channel the full potency of the dark side, which relies primarily on emotion.
Sidious is less rational and more consumed by hatred, which allows him to use the dark side to its greatest potential. And because he was not rational and consumed by vanity, he killed Plagueis even though it almost certainly cost him in the long run. Plagueis was his partner, he conducted the research into the force while Sidious played politics. With Plagueis gone, Palpatine had nobody to further study the force and help advance him while he was stuck playing babysitter to the empire.
I think Plagueis had too much confidence in his apprentices own rational thinking. He thought highly of Sidious, knew he was a smart man, and therefore couldn't foresee Sidious killing his Master and losing such a valuable asset just to satisfy his own ego.

Really makes the Sith look stupid, when Sidious offs the guy for comparably petty reasons. But I guess that's the point. We go from Bane's honor duels to ensure a clean transfer of power, to Sidious electrocuting his sleeping master like a coward. Bane was debatably at the limits of his potential, while Plagueis could have advanced the Sith cause far more, had his student not circumvented the entire point of the rule of two.

I get the feeling that Darth Plagueis would've been a much greater threat to the galaxy as a whole than than Darth Sidious would've ever dreamed of. Who knows, maybe Darth Sidious saved the whole star wars galaxy in the long run by killing his former master?

My favorite sith lord Darth Plagueis is. Heh, i can imagine that if he suspected Sidious was up to somehting he could have made a clone, Not one for him to inhabit no, but to control with his mind and see what would happen and let it take his place with meating palpatine at the opera house, then return home to the penthouse. Once he sees Sidious betraying him he'd let the clone die as it's purpose was served and decided to lay low and continue his studies in secret, while Palps thinks he has killed his former master. And so Plagueis waited, watched, and continues his studies and becomes immortal.

Darth Plagueis's writings in the Book of Sith are utterly fascinating. Easily my favorite section in that book. Still, it is somewhat amusing that the practices that Plagueis considers so difficult to achieve that their very existence is uncertain, were in fact already mastered by the Aing-Tii monks; flow-walking, fold space. It should also be noted that Essence Transfer was a last resort for Plagueis, as he could manipulate the Midi-Chlorians to grant him eternal youth. He goes above and beyond.

And these (and more) are the reasons why Plagueis is my favorite sith lord. Just imagine how different the galaxy would have been if he ruled. No deathstar, and all that. And in our own little Fan-universe this might as well happen.

What needs to happen is they need to flesh out the alternate universe where Plagueis achieves his goals! They can call it "Star Wars Dimensions" or something like that. LOL

Sidious really killed the only hope for continued (forever!) Sith-Domination...so short sighted, for such a brilliant politician (it's not like he wouldn't have had power, hell Plagueis would have probably let Sidious rule the galaxy and he would have only pulled the strings from behind the curtain when he thought it absolutely neccessary! I mean Plagueis was a researcher at heart, not a politician or ruler!) :(

ps: Can someone write a fanfiction with Plagueis beating the shit out of his apprentice? (and maybe keeping him around after teaching him the error of his ways ;) )

So basically if Plegeus lived and discovered Immortality, under his Mastery, he and Sideous would plan to establish a New Order, held by a Powerful Few, gifted God-like abilities through the Dark Side of the Force. Sideous believed it took too long, so he cut his plans short by killing his master....

Imagine if an immortal, fully powered Plagueis fighting against Yoda and during their battle, he took the Jedi Master's Force powers away. It that happened, it would be curtains for the age old master.

So as I try to understand Plagueis figured out what Einstein theorized about time and space within time and space can be folded up on itself and see into the future and past as well as space travel. Very Interesting!!!!

He was an absolute genius in the force and if it weren't for his teachings, discoveries and probably his writings in book of Sith- I don't think Sidious would've been as successful as he was without all these things being to his advantage
