The TRAGEDY of DARTH PLAGUEIS THE WISE -The Murder of a SITH Master -Darth Plagueis-also known as Darth Plagueis The Wise-was a Dark Lord of the Sith who was trained by the Sith Master Darth Tenebrous. The time period of when Darth Plagueis came to possess his Sith apprentice was unknown, but Darth Plagueis was master to the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious, aka Sheev Palpatine-who want on to become chancellor of the Republic, before toppling both the Jedi Order and Republic and leading the Galactic Empire as Emperor. Darth Plagueis and Palpatine—who took the Sith moniker Darth Sidious—worked together for years, as Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious tried to unlock the secrets of immortality. While training Sidious, Darth Plagueis taught him that two Sith were required for their perilous machinations. So, if they worked together in accordance to the Rule of Two, with one of them serving as a bait for the dark side of the Force and the other as a vessel, they would succeed in acquiring the ability to harness the full power of the dark side. Darth Plagueis conducted research into bioengineering and experimenting with his ability to influence the midi-chlorians to create life and to execute the Sith Order's long-percolating plan of supplanting the Galactic Republic with a new Sith Empire. In doing so, Darth Plagueis acquired considerable knowledge of the Force and the dark side. Under the tutelage of Darth Plagueis, Darth Sidious was appointed to the Galactic Senate as the Senator of Naboo. And as Sidious played the part of Galactic Senator, Darth Plagueis was still teaching him the ways of the dark side of the force, in accordance with the Sith Rule of Two philosophy. Darth Plagueis, remembered as Darth Plagueis the Wise, was a male Muun Dark Lord of the Sith and heir to the lineage of Darth Bane. Trained by Darth Tenebrous, Darth Plagueis mastered the art and science of midi-chlorian manipulation. Obsessed with eternal life, he experimented with ways to cheat death and create new life from the midi-chlorians. In his public guise as Magister Hego Damask II of the InterGalactic Banking Clan, Darth Plagueis backed the rise and fall of certain star systems, businesses, and crime lords, earning him many enemies and putting the Galactic Republic into turmoil. One of Plagueis's greatest contributions to the history of the galaxy was training Darth Sidious in the ways of the Sith and the dark side of the Force, whom he incited to take control of the galaxy and bring about a new age of the Sith. For decades, he had helped Sidious, known publicly as Palpatine from Naboo, rise to the position of Senator and played a hand in his apprentice's election as the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic in 32 BBY. Together, they instigated the Yinchorri Uprising in 34 BBY, the Invasion of Naboo, and the war that would destroy the Jedi Order and the Republic in years to come. They were even unwittingly responsible for the procreation of Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One. Because of the importance of Darth Bane's Rule of Two, will Star Wars fans get to see this doctrine play out in the upcoming Disney+ Series The Acolyte? Will Star Wars fans get to see how the Sith Rule of Two was followed and implemented during the waning days of The High Republic? Since the Acolyte will focus on the emergence of dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic Era, it stands to reason that the series will showcase the Sith operating during this time period. If that's the case, Star Wars fans could very well get to see the Rule of Two play out in the upcoming Disney+ series. The Acolyte is being described as a female-centric, mystery-thriller that will be created by Leslye Headland. Darth Plagueis can be considered one the most important Sith Lords to have lived. Darth Plagueis' foresight and acumen allowed for the Sith Order to slowly but surely rise from the ashes to eventually topple both the Jedi Order and Galactic Republic.

"Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith so powerful and so wise, he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life. He had such a knowledge of the dark side, he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying."
―Palpatine

Anakin: “wow that story is pretty crazy. Is it some ancient legend?”
Sheeve: “oh no that was like ten years ago. You were literally here that day.”

Imagine being a Sith Lord, knowing your apprentice will one day try to kill you. Sounds like the perfect life

Wise guy: knows apprentices will one day kill their master.

Also wise guy: Gets fucking shit faced in his apprentices’ presence.

"It's not a story the jedi would tell you."

I have to ask: did the jedi even know?

You know, if plagueis had been the one to come back in rise of skywalker, it would have been a much more compelling story. If he actually could create life and kill at will as well as reincarnating himself. Would have been more interesting than what we got, anyway.

So no one thought it was suspicious for literally the most powerful man in the entire galaxy to go visit one of the most powerful bankers in the galaxy for personal reasons?

Fun fact: Anaking was indirectly created by Plagueis when he manipulated the force to bring dead people back to life, the force created Anakin as a response to this threat.
Would have been Cool to see Plagueis to come back in ep9 instead of Palpatine.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.

Sidious didn't plan to kill Plagueis, he just saw an opportunity at the end of their celebrations

I didn't realize Plagueis was alive so far into the prequels.
So who's plan was it to start the war and take over the galaxy?
Plagueis or Sidious?

Darth Plagueis novel is a masterpiece and I would give a kidney for Disney to make it into a trilogy

I wish we could get more of plagues in a movie or series it's kinda sad he died "so easily" considering he was the master to Palpatine

Same thing happened to me. I got hammered and my apprentice tried to draw on my face with a sharpie.

Imagine how close the Jedi were to meeting Plagueis

This sounds to me as if Sidious was angry about Plagueis because he manipulated him into becoming who he is now but at the same time he is grateful too because of all the knowledge that will make him more powerful in the future. There is definitely much more depth to Sidious' character than we are let to believe in canon.

I'd love it if they would actually do a series about Palpatine and how he became so evil. They could really flesh his character out and make him more than just evil.

It's frustrating that the Darth Plagueis novel isn't official canon. It's one of the most comprehensive and influential Staw Wars books ever written. It sets the entire Prequel Trilogy in motion. It's a masterpiece.

I will always love that one picture that looks like Palpatine is smelling his lightsaber hilt. "Smells like victoy."
