They teased armor trims years ago in Minecraft story mode, Gabriel has diamond trim netherite. It also kind of teased netherite since in the first few episodes it wasn’t out yet.

Yes I think they will add more plants in future updates, let's not forget the leaks teased three. The biggest potential of the sniffer is that the team can now add new plants without waiting for a new biome or biome revamp, they can just add whatever plant and just say it's ancient so there's no biome for it. Remember how the wandering trader traded small dripleaf before lush caves were added? Thismob is basically that, This opens up a lot of potential for new plants to be added even if the team has no capacity to make a new biome.

With the mod that let's you use literally any item for trim color makes trims soooo much cooler. Ender pearl is my favorite

Tip:
Silence might be the best but it's not the only option.
Try to experiment with other armor trims, you can get a result cooler than silence
