I get a lot of questions about what it's like to travel in North Korea. It's actually a very safe country to visit because you are on a tightly controlled tour and you are unable to roam around unsupervised.

As long as you can follow a few simple mandatory rules, then you will have no issues while in North Korea. In this video, I explain what are the 3 golden rules that anyone must obey (and respect) should they decide to visit the most isolated country in the world - NORTH KOREA.

I took a day trip to Kaesong when I was teaching English in South Korea. It was by far the creepiest travel experience of my life. Your experience seems to have been much more interesting than mine was as it was just a day tour. Cell phones weren't allowed when I went. We had to put our phones in a plastic bag and store them in a locker at the border station.
