My tip
Don't think that a journal is just for writing in. You can
-- Draw
-- Paste random stuff
--Just scribble
--Swatch lipsticks or other stuff you want to swatch
--Paint
A journal doesn't have to be ''Today I did this and that'' book
Hope this was helpful for someone.

stop comparing yourself with other journal writers on instagram, pinterest and tumblr. don't be afraid to make mistakes. it doesn't have to be perfect. do it for yourself, not for the gram.

I have 1 tip to share:

Give your journal a name because if you give a name to your journal, you will have a small feeling that your not writing in a book, but sharing your thoughts, emotions and your daily life with a person. So do try this out, it works! :)

Coming from someone who has been journaling since I was 6 all the way up to now at 23 (I have 43 journals that cover literally all of those years!), these are my personal tips in alignment with the ones given in the vid:
1. I write before bed because I like to write about how my day went (anything exciting, concerning, or whatever thoughts weighed in my mind throughout the day).
2. I don't pay attention to making it look pretty, etc. Even though there's nothing wrong with doing that but I know people can feel intimidated to start journaling because they believe it has to be a certain way, but it doesn't!
3. Simply begin. You don't have to write anything life changing. The key to start journaling is to do just that: start.
4. I've stayed so consistent with journaling all these years because I've built a relationship with journals: they are there to listen to me and they don't interrupt. I can write whatever I want without fear of retaliation or opinions, and that in itself makes journaling my therapeutic go-to!

Many people feel that if you are writing diary entries then you have to only write in that book
But my tip is to include
Paper collages
Doodles
Drawing
To do lists
And even some inspiration

And just for fun you can print monthly calendars and store them in

I haven’t gone a day without journaling during the pandemic because I picture my grandkids going through it later on, and I also keep track of the numbers. I like to think that one day my journal will be a primary source for researchers.

Tip: write your favourite song lyrics in your journal (if it’s in another language, try writing it in that language)

I am in my mid sixties and have kept a journal since I was required to keep one in my senior English class. The teacher would read our entries and write comments in the margines. I would write comments to him about his comments to me. I have agoraphobia with severe panic and anxiety attacks and journaling has helped me keep what sanity I have left. There's no real trick to it. It is whatever you want it to be.

TIP:
- Don't feel sad because of it. (Blanked a month? it's fine, I have done it.; write one line on a page?, I have done it, couple times ;
- Don't PLAN TO share it with anyone else. (i.e. you can share, just don't write it only to share)
- get some patterned paper so that at least you have something to stuff in there when you have absolutely 0 things to write about.

My journals have been my therapist, confidant and muse for the last 50+ years. It was there for the heartaches, for my entire educational career, for my dating failures to finally finding The One, for coping with the loss of loved ones, documenting the birth of my children, travel, moving, depression, health, high & lows, rants & praise. Every year I go through the ritual of picking the next journal. I look forward to it. Its even a line item on our budget. Also my journal of choice is the Hobonochi but honestly a $1 notebook works just fine.

I have started journaling since I was in middle school. And it's been 10 years now. It is definitely a habit worth doing. You will be forever grateful for this!

I am trying to be regular in journaling. I always like to write my ideas, thoughts, emotions in a diary. But these writings are so scattered. Today I write here, then tomorrow I write in somewhere else. I am trying to organise my writings. Now, I do 4 types of journaling.
1. I have a diary which I always keep with me while travelling. I write everything I have seen or learnt while travelling in that diary. I have been writing it since I was 8.
2. Whenever I think of any new writing idea or I discover a new plot for story writing I write up those ideas in a diary, so that I don’t forget it. I also write story books reviews.
3. I have a diary where I write the quotes or a part of any book which I find inspiring and beautiful.
4. And finally I try to maintain a journal where I write the story of my life, write the story of my surroundings. It’s like a mirror of myself. I always come up with new realizations about myself when I go through it. This diary is really the closest to my heart. It’s my self reflection.

Your videos are great. Please keep it up😊

for those like me who either 1) has a routine life so nothing interesting really happens and day-to-day journals would turn out really bland because *the same shit happened all week*, or 2) have the attention span of a goldfish and forgets to write for a while and then feels bad for the journal, the commonplace book they mentioned is a good alternative to having a day-to-day journal. just use it as an idea dump, thoughts you had on the fly, venting, whatever the hell goes on in your head. the book will fill up faster than you think, especially if you carry it with you.

also, don't be like me who guilts myself over the ✨ a e s t h e t i c ✨ spreads you see from studytubes. i don't have the patience nor time for that, and it's okay if you don't either! or if you do! it's okay!! just slap the words you need on a paper and leave it, it's your journal that you're most likely not posting, so who gives a damn if you spilled fountain pen ink (guilty) or messed up the header (also guilty)? my journal ended up being a way to learn how to work through my perfectionism. it's basically just word vomit, so go ham.

and if you want that ✨ a e s t h e t i c ✨ spread, start small and just find inspiration and things you want to implement from other people's spreads (DON'T get jealous!! envy is toxic yet temporary!! no bueno!!!)

have fun staying sane during quarantine, y'all.

When I journal, I write as if talking to my future self. Or talk to an imaginary friend. 🙊

I have a tip... make sure you sometimes write some funny things so when you look back at it, you can laugh (I try to write all my embarrassing but funny moments because at the end of the day, it is private so it gets me really entertained 😂😂
