This is a 30 minute gentle chair yoga sequence done entirely in sitting.

These rotational movements for the shoulders, hips and spine feel soooo good!

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

If there is a body part you are unable to feel or move very well, you can always chose to visualize that movement. This will exercise the area of your brain that is responsible for organizing information from that body part. It can be very useful to imagine moving areas of the body that can’t move, as it can help with pain, and with reorganizing brain networks.

Make sure you are sitting in a sturdy chair with no wheels. If you are in a wheelchair, lock your brakes. I recommend being in bare feet if possible, so you can get lots of sensory information through the bottoms of your feet, but if you prefer to wear running shoes, that also works! Socks can be slippery.

Thank you Cara. I really appreciate all the sessions that you do. I am 80 years old and do at least two of your gentle yoga classes daily. I especially enjoy the more recent ones.

A wonderful rotation routine: comprehensive, intense, well developed, ending with a sense of fullness, release, and calm. This routine alone served as my morning stretch, a super warm up before exercising, and moved me closer to searching for my body's center--that internal invitation that Chair Yoga imparts in me. Hi Cara! I just found you and looks like you haven't done any videos the last couple of years. I was a COTA for 27 years until I had a series of strokes in which I was not able to return to work. Now I am working on myself, getting more coordination and balance. I thought your instruction was different and that you must work in PT and then found out you work in OT. I do hope you chose to come back and make more videos.

This was so inaccessible for me. Too many repetitions of the same muscles and now I have horrible cramping in my shoulders and fronts of my legs. I was really hoping to find something to ease back into my active lifestyle as my broken foot is healing but this hurt my foot because I kept needing it for balance after I had to take my walking cast off to do the ankle exercises
and the muscle cramps on top of the frustration (and arthritis pain in my hands to take on and off the boot extra times). Just no. I guess back to lazing around until my foot is healed 😫
