I cant make chocolade out of it means 'i cant make a positive out of this'. Because chocolade comes from Belgium, which was part of the Netherlands. (Chocolade is suppose to be a metaphor for something nice or sweet, positive thing)

Here in Brabant we say houdoe (how do) if we say goodbye to each other.
It’s tjongejonge.
De aap uit de mouw, the monkey out of the sleeve doesn’t come from Indonesia as far as I know but it comes from China where high state ladies had a tiny monkey in their sleeve as a pet.

Just saying bye! Or you can say "ja hoor, Doei!!!!" That's more like "?yeah right", that's more they think you are telling a lot of rubbish, i don't believe you. It depends how you say it, (The emphasis ). This was funny to watch,

Of course idiomatic expressions of all languages tend to sound strange to foreigner's ears; it's definitely not a characteristic of the Dutch language.
I've a few others: steen en been klagen litt complain stone and bone = complain strongly. Voet bij stuk houden litt keep foot near piece = persist one's statement.
