That pronunciation of “angstschreeuw” was impressive! I doubt I’d be able to tell she is Canadian if I heard this out of the context of this video. Cheers!

I'm Dutch, but up until now, I never really thought about 'angstschreeuw' having 8 consonants in a row😅

Fonologically, it's 6 tho

Just use the (soft) 'g' sound as it's pronounced in the south of the Netherlands and in Belgium. Even though I live in the Randstad these days, I usually still teach foreigners that g-sound as it's a lot easier to pronounce for most people (especially Anglophone people).

It is a well known misunderstanding that each native Dutch speaker uses the 'rasping g'. Hopefully those who came from abroad, live longer in our country and regularly visit Noord-Brabant, Limburg and other parts from The Netherlands - so outside Holland - get familiar with the more softer pronounced g. Which is also commonly used in our neighbour countries Belgium and Germany.

I honestly will never understand how it's hard to pronounce the G. (I'm dutch)

It's funny to hear that they all exaggerate the Dutch "G" sound. They should use it more soft, that's more natural.

Seeing them struggle to pronounce some words just made me think about 'Scheveningen' ahahah

Lmao here in belgium people in Western-Flanders barely pronounce the 'g', which results in something that sounds like a 'h'

I think being Scottish gives me a slight advantage with the g’s and the ch’s, we’re quite used to making those sounds unlike most other English speakers

The Sumi tribe of Nagaland, India has a similar usage of "ggg" in our dialect.
We use letters/words like "qhi, qhu, xhi xu, xa, gha, ghi, etc".

Actually, the "G" sound became very easy for me once I realized that it was the same sound as the Spanish "J" in '"jugar." And my favorite Dutch word is "gezellig."

to get a good pronunciation in Dutch, one must let a small chicken bone get stuck in the throat and then speak. The bone will help get the right pronunciation.

When I hear people say Schatje or school the ch is gutural, but in Bossche (bollen) it seem to be a different sound that is almost silent sometimes?

Somebody asked what KLM stood for once, makes sense why it's abbreviated.
