I appreciate your time and effort. I have been effortlessly trying to connect remotely. I have no problem with the ftp:// to look at my directory locally - but when I try to connect with my laptop which is wirelessly connected to the computer configured for ftp - i cannot for the life of me, use the ip addy given by my provider on the remote laptop!!! I added exceptions to my firewall and even turned it off.. I port forwarded the in my router as well. I also use vonage port forwarded it as well

i've removed 'allow anonymous connection' checkbox but still m able to access without using any userid/pass thru IE but its working as expected in chrome!! do u have any idea?

I loved your tutorial and everything worked exactly the way you said it would so thanks for that. Now my problem is, that my server is on a physically separate computer and I have a small home network with about a half a dozen separate network devices that I would like to be able to access the server with. So the question is how do I make my server accessible by the other devices on my home network???

external ip will be provided by your internet service provider. No need to create it.If you search google whatismyipaddress you will get it
