Snacking too often can lead to an excess of calories which can often become the main culprit of weight gain or trouble losing weight even when you are consistent with your workouts…

But just because you have a goal doesn’t mean your snacking habit is going to disappear into thin air.

When those cravings come on, here are some low calorie options I reach for that help replace a craving I feel coming on.

1. 🥢Kimchi - I really love spicy kimchi, and it’s great for my gut (for those who don’t know what it is, it’s a Korean dish of fermented veggies, usually cabbage)

2. 🍓Strawberries & cream - if you have a sweet tooth like me, you’ll appreciate this one 😍 it’s so yummy and easy to have these two ingredients in your fridge. Quarter 2-3 strawberries and top with whipped cream

3. 🫖Tea is my go to. Sometimes when I turn to snacking I realize (after I’ve eaten) that it was a learned emotional trigger - instead of being hungry I was just stressed, upset or anxious. Making a tea when a snack craving comes one helps me slow down a bit and evaluate if I need to make a full meal, if I’m being emotional, or if I really just want a nice snack.
Tea just feels so good too I like one in the morning (usually a green tea) then one in the afternoon (an herbal tea).

Save this short for the next time you’re feeling snacky and need a lower calorie alternative to what you would naturally reach for.

I love the comments that are just crapping on this post. Most of y’all are starting out with “this is not healthy for most people” okay well if it doesn’t work for you move on. I just so happen to enjoy this method. Not everyone can give into their cravings. Some people have difficulty controlling the moderation part. Half the time my body is craving something sweet- it just wants some sugar and guess what, a bowl of fruit fixes that 99.9% of the time. It’s about learning if your body is actually asking for that specific craving or just something similar. If I’ve been craving ice cream for days but no amount of healthy alternatives is helping, then hell yeah I’m gonna treat myself. If I allowed myself to have what I crave everyday I would not be making any progress. Take these things with a grain of salt because YES this method doesn’t work for everyone 🤷‍♀️ every body is different.

For me this works bc most of the time im not craving something specific i just wan something chewy or crunchy or spicy or sweet. If i am craving something specific i get that so i dont end up binging later

You know. I make a lot of very thin sliced cabbage. Salt, pepper, start with a little vinegar. Let it marinate. You don’t have to add Mayo and it’s still so good. I add some Mayo to mine sometimes. I never add sugar. I don’t understand why the restaurants add sugar to it. And then I might snack on that. Or eat that before I eat lunch or dinner to get that fiber in. Love that little bit of crunchiness.

If I creave something I just eat it but in healthy amount. One slice of pizza, some chocolate... Its all about balance ❤️
