"They're alcoholics." - Kurt Cobain
"He's a heroin junkie with a junkie wife." - Axl Rose
Annnnd both are correct.

Me n the wife were riding motorcycles and stopped at a Starbucks in Birmingham Al at the same time that axle was pulling up in a black Lamborghini. He got out right next to us and we said damn that a sweet ride, he told her to crank it it up and have a seat. We had a few mins conversation we never got into who he was or whatever. He was nice to us and just talked like a regular guy about cars n bikes for a few mins.

No mention of Izzy? He was Axl's best friend for the longest time and also responsible for keeping him calm at all times. After he left their songwriting went off the rails and Axl's relationships with Slash, Matt and Duff worsened rapidly because he wasn't there as his security blanket who talked him down and soaked up conflict anymore.
Their feud is actually still rather fresh considering that Izzy turned down every opportunity to join GnR for shows due to 'insultingly low payment' and basically being offered to appear for one song as a show monkey instead of actually rejoining for real to play the songs he wrote. Izzy is on great terms with everyone else in the band except Axl.
To be fair its pretty one sided as Izzy doesn't seem to care at all about returning to the spotlight and Axl still being salty.

Say what you will about Axl personality and behavior wise, but when he was on, very few lead singers could put on a show like he could. Saw GNR four times in Toronto between 1987 and 1992: They opened for The Cult in 87 (had no idea who GNR was then), opened for Maiden in 88, played with Skid Row in 91 and played with Metallica and Faith No More in 92 and they put on a stellar show each time. Fuck I miss the music and concerts of those days.

I saw them in ‘91…..that concert blew my mind, best energy I’ve ever experienced at a show

I feel bad for Metallica. If it were the other way around James and the gang would 100% carry the show on and make it worth the price of admission

Kurt Cobain calling GNR just alcoholics. That's rich coming from him.

I was done with GnR after their "singer" slugged his girlfriend in an airport 30 years ago and no one had anything to say about it.

Kurt Cobain calling Axl a "sexist racist homophobe" before liberals made it their mantra 😂

I gotta give Axl credit for remaining alive during all that idle time away from GNR

Ppl that are really exceptional usually are different. That’s what makes them, them. Axl has had a lot of issues. Axl is grown up now.

I saw them in 1991 with Izzy and in 1992 with Gilby. The live performance was beyond magical. The entire universe was chomping at the bit to see them live.

Axel not responding to Bon Jovi was the put down.

Love him or hate him, Axl was and always will be Axl. He has (had) issues, he was impossible to work with, you never knew if he was showing up on stage on any given night, etc, but when he showed up, it was one of the best shows anyone would’ve ever seen. And then they all sold out and got back together for the love of money.

What's really funny is Bowie was like 20 years older than Axl.

Axl's work with AC/DC as far as it's been reported, went really well. Admittedly, I would of loved to seen it live.

Axl pissing off people is one of the reasons I liked him. The only thing that bothered me was him coming on so late

Back in the day, Guns & Roses played at Sturgis Rally. He made us wait for over 3 hours before he decided to come on stage . Considering there are no chairs there, it was very tiring standing around waiting. When his highness finally came on stage, a lot of people wanted a refund & left. I thought the concert wasn’t that great. Although they have some good songs, I doubt I will ever go to see them again. Highly disappointed.
