The Liverpool 'Merseybeat' in full force during the 'British Invasion'. But look at that very early model of the Rickenbacker 330-12. Wow~!.

Probably the wildest I've ever heard Gerry & The Pacemakers.

Brilliant footage! Such a great live band. Gerry had a great distinctive voice, and could use it as good with an up tempo song like this, as well as a cool ballad. When I was a kid, I remember Gerry was often a regular on the Sooty show. Does anyone else remember that?

I first saw this video on the 2009 DVD entitled "It's Gonna Be Alright". Recommended for Pacemaker fans! Has 17 performances, all from 1963-1965. Includes a wonderful solo of "Ferry" by Gerry, now in his 60s, sitting in the Cavern Club.

Back in the 1980s, I saw Gerry who was part of a British Invasion tour. Hearing him was no problem, but he had to stand on one of the amps so the folks in the back could see him.

A lesser known song, which they also performed on RSG ('Ready Steady Go') in 1964 (albeit not live).
It's a track off their 1965 LP 'Ferry Cross The Mersey'.

Thanks so much for this! I believe this was the flip side of "Ferry Cross the Mersey" In the US! One other request . The Kessler twins appeared on the show a number of times. In one appearance Ed danced with them & he spontaneously slapped one of them across the back side! it was so unlike Ed & hysterically funny. Hope you can maybe find the video of that. Thanks for all these wonderful videos from the show!! We are so blessed to be able to enjoy them once again!!

They were The Beatles' closest rival in 1964-1965. They'd played in Hamburg as well as The Cavern.

These four that made the hits as Gerry and the Pacemakers were really great live, later in the 80"s, 90's etc. the reformed Gerry and the Pacemakers added too much to the sound and even Gerry tho said they were great backing band the sound was not even close to what the original 4 had.
