My first job as a young girl was taking tickets at the local theatre. I always got to sneak a peak at movies showing. Ferry Cross the Mersey was one of these movies. On my night off I purchased a ticket and saw this movie. This movie, this song, and the memory remains with me to the end.❤

So...Gerry has crossed the Mersey for the last time. Beautiful song. It will live longer than any of us can.

I didn't start listening to the British invasion until I was in my early twenties and I loved it. Still do and this song is one of the best. Much love from Ohio!!!! RIP Gerry. You went away too soon.

You don't have to be from Liverpool to love this beautiful song.

Man, I'm sitting here crying over the news that Gerry has died. My God the memories from this time period. Gerry and the Pacemakers were the best part of the Brit invasion. I had a chance to see him in the 90's in Taylor, Mi. at their yearly festival and when they started playing this song then, Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying I broke out in goosebumps. All those memories flooding back in from 64', 65'... I might be going on 64 but I'm glad I lived these days. Because that music will never come again. God Speed Gerry and Enjoy Heaven. You will never be forgotten. The music lives inside our hearts. Thank You for your contribution to it.

"We don't care what you're name is boy, we'll never turn you away" My father was from Manchester (arguably close to the Mersey), he would NEVER turn anyone away. Rest in peace Dad.

I am very prideful of the 1960's and 70's American and British band members; The Beatles, The Who, Supertramp, Gerry and the Pacemakers...etc., and the list will continue
until it has been filled up many times over. Therefore, I want to say thank-you for the brilliant rising stars who captivated us all to the day and love of such profound music, thanks,
thanks, and thanks again

I went on the ferry across the Mersey, back in summer, 1986. My humble, and inexpensive, municipal tourist boat voyage was inspired by this early 1960s Gerry Marsden song, as it had just been copied by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and released on their "Welcome to the Pleasuredome" double album.

The view of the Liverpool waterside skyline is truly spectacular - those grand, grey shipping buildings, and the iconic Liver Building, the Cunard building, etc. The ferry voyage is comparable, I would say, to the Staten Island ferry, Manhattan, and New York Bay, Liberty Island, and the Statue of Liberty. Almost 🇺🇸🇬🇧⚓⛴️☘️👍🗽

My wife and I have just returned from a short break in Liverpool and we just had to take a trip on the 'Ferry Cross the Mersey'
Although my wife is from overseas she always loved the song.

I'm American and I used to hear this song on the oldies station. It was never my favorite. I used to think they were singing "fairy" instead of ferry. I had no idea what the Mersey was. I finally visited Liverpool and loved it. Now I realize that this is a song about Liverpool and it is so true. Great city, great people, and now I can appreciate this great song.

This song is for my late uncle. I miss him so much. Living in a world without you, uncle is hard. We will meet again someday. Love you, Uncle M.
