Songs were so enjoyable back in the 1960s. They actually had melody and harmonies! How radical!

Rest in Peace. Gerry. A Liverpool lad who had a fantastic voice and made a fortune for Charity.

I’m a 13 year old girl and I love this song. I love 60s music and sadly I do get bullied a lot at school for this :( it’s really sad to think about because I don’t really know why those kids think it’s cool to hurt others and make them feel sad. Hopefully one day they will stop picking on me because it does really hurt me and I do find it hard to stay strong sometimes, but with these songs I feel strong and brave. I am going to stay strong and hopefully I will get though this. ❤️

I was a teen in the early 60's and it was amazing how the avalanche of Brit pop came smashing onto the scene out of nowhere..:)...PS- and although groups and singers from that era have become household names, it always saddens me a bit to think that the songwriters of most of those great songs are completely unknown, we don't even know their names, maybe somebody should write a book to set that right..:)

Oh no! First Dawn Wells ( Mary Ann in Gilligan's Island) died recently and now Gerry Marsden passed away. This guy was good in the early 1960s a lot of American rockers went to England and learned the Mersey Beat sound from the Beatles and Gerry and the Pacemakers. Little Richard, Roy Orbison and Del Shannon were considered rock gods by the English yet they were impressed by the new sounds coming out of England. Gerry and the Pacemakers songs used to be on the radio in Southern California until the stations got rid of the oldies format. Thank God for YouTube for posting these songs no longer played on the radio. These songs were also played on the Music Choice TV Channel Solid Gold Oldies. The songs "I Like It" and "Ferry Across The Mersey" played at least three times before and during Christmas. Rest In Peace Gerry because once you cross that ferry to the other side don't you worry darling, because Dawn Wells will be there. You'll never walk alone and it's gonna be all right!

We used to have this on a cassette in the car, I'll never forget the memories of driving down the road with this song and many others playing, then being passed the cassette so I could reset the tape with my pinky.

OMG! My wife and I first met online. She was singing this to me over the phone for THREE YEARS... before we even met in person! I had no idea it was a real song! I thought of googling the lyrics and I found this out just moments ago!

RIP Gerry Marsden. Thanks for the memories. Your music was on the soundtrack of my youth. I hope that you are still belting out the music above the clouds ...

The first song I ever played on a jukebox, in a cafe in Warkworth. I think I was 10 at the time. Now I have the best jukebox in the world with YouTube, thanks to the people who upload the songs. I don't even have to pop sixpence in a slot.
