This is the first time I've seen a couple go through this together, get clean and sober and stay together and still work their programs. I really wish the best for them, I bet they're great people to know and it makes me smile that they were able to stay with each other. That's a risky thing to sobriety, staying with your binge-buddy, but good for them!

Sister-"I have cancer"
Brother- "I have too much going on right now"
Wow.

For those of you who are in the same situation, at around 13:00 they talk about cell phones and not being able to contact emergency services if they don't have a phone. Let me make this REALLY clear... EVEN IF you do NOT have an ACTIVE plan on your phone, and NO SERVICE on the phone, you are STILL ABLE TO CALL 911, and it will go through. The ONLY requirement to this is to have a cell phone, and it be able to be charged and turn on. YOU ARE STILL 100% ABLE TO CALL 911 even if your phone service is turned off.

The sister thinking that her cancer is like a burden is heartbreaking

Getting sober and then staying sober with no family, friends, or $ for treatment was the hardest thing I ever had to do and continue to do... I am madly jealous when watching how much love most of the addicts on this show have in their lives. Please never take it for granted.

It's so annoying when couples call themselves the modern day Bonnie and Clyde. No you're not, you're the typical couple who gets into petty trouble, or act like you do.

This was heartbreaking to see the sister/best friend so upset. She has not only 1, but 2 people she loves who are killing themselves slowly 🥺

Watching them misunderstand her trying to take him to the hospital really was heartbreaking. It’s intense to see how even family NOT understanding addiction contributes to the pressure. I’m happy for them and their success

That adrenaline from the confrontation probably saved him from that overdose

Jeff is honestly the best interventionist I’ve ever seen. He always explain things best in detail

Here in my country, and many places around the world, peoples drug addiction stories usually start off with “so one night at a party, my mate offered me some coke/mdma/weed etc for the first time. I liked it, so started trying other drugs and it escalated from there.”
But it seems for most American drug addicts, their drug addiction story starts with “I had a car accident/ work accident/ home accident/ sports accident and so my doctor prescribed me I loved it and was hooked but when my doctor wouldn’t give me more I turned to the streets.”

This relationship is really remarkable. Usually, people go through treatment and realize they can't stay in their relationship because it's so unhealthy...but these two have known each other for decades and really seem like soulmates. I truly hope that being around each other doesn't trigger a relapse, and I hope they keep working their program. It's so sweet to see how in love they are through everything!

When he had no reaction to the sister having cancer it broke my heart. All she wanted was to know he cared and I'm sure he did. That just shows you how numb drugs make you. Theyre both such an attractive couple. Hope they stay clean.

I’m crying for the sister. She seems like such a good person and all she wants is her brother back :(

Opiate withdrawal is unbearable and terrifying . People who never experienced it will never know .

hearing her say “i love being clean” hit so close. you think happiness is only when your on them until your sober completely from them. and that’s so beautiful to see once you’ve been blindsided for so long. hope they’re doing good

Man… when Brad’s sister told him about her cancer and his reaction was “I just have a lot going on”

The hurt in her eyes speaks leaps and bounds … she trusted him as her best friend and brother . As someone who has lost multiple people to cancer, including my father being on his way out, this was heart breaking .

I wish the best for them both . I’ll be praying for you .

they’re both strong, but sam is really an incredible woman. “i don’t want to die from this” is the most powerful thing an addict can admit. the mentality of doing hard drugs every day is “maybe i’ll OD and die, but whatever. i’ll die high.” sam got to a point where she realized her life was worth living. that’s an enormous step. plus, she LOVES being sober! it’s not “cool, ” or “alright, ” she loves it. god bless you samantha!!
