I was a junkie for 15 years, in and out of rehabs, until I just got tired of my own bullcrap. You can't help someone who doesn't want the help, nor sees the problem with their own actions. It's unfortunate, but it's the truth. Just celebrated 2 years clean and serene 🙏🏼

You could tell by her demeanor in her sober interview it wasn’t going well. She looked like she did not want to be there & had no excitement about being clean.

I think it’s sweet Katie mentioned she really liked the camera man assigned to film her episode. They have such a tough job and I’m glad that the crew treats people they’re filming with respect.

Telling an upset person to "calm down" is like pouring gas onto a fire.

you can tell her sisters are so worn down.

This is another example of how addiction does not discriminate. You can grow up having a perfect life, no bad things happen to you and STILL have that “addict” gene in you. It really is a disease and needs to start being recognized as such

I went to my first AA meeting yesterday and was immediately in tears as I sat down. So I'm glad I went. I could see my own pain in everyone else's eyes. We were instantly bonded through our addiction, suffering, and desire to keep fighting. I don't want to lecture anyone or tell you what to do, just wanted to share how my experience went. Going back next week. I've been clean from alcohol and cocaine since 2/6/2023. Take care.

I hate addiction!! It's a deadly disgusting disease. Im 3 years sober from opioid painkillers. Im so thankful for being stubborn. I haven't relapsed because im too darn stubborn to lose all of this time. I question my sobriety a lot, however I can't give up almost 40 months.

6:02 best line ever “just shut up and smoke your cigarette, I’ve had a long week.”

You cannot help someone who doesn't want to help themselves. Your heart goes out to families of addicts. They are the ones who really suffer.

Candy is an excellent counselor. “I have wonderful news for you, you never have to do it again.” Subtle but powerful and still frank. I hope Katie gets sober and stays sober.

I always get sad seeing these people as kids. It’s heartbreaking what drugs can do.

Lol that was exactly the ending i expected nobody gets sober unless they want too, you gotta realize you cant force anybody

Telling a person with a substance use disorder it's treatment now or never is a terrible way of getting someone into treatment. They need to come to it on their own.

My daughter changed schools at 13 and also found a bad crowd, quit dancing at 15 and went to cosmetology school after-barely-graduating high school. it took her almost twice as long than normal to complete the cosmetology program. She's not a heroin addict but she struggles with life and i think she's using something. This hit so close to home.

What happened to Katie when she was 14 at the school she asked to leave ? That's a huge red flag. Why isn't this family more curious? Her sudden behavioral changes? She was abused by someone in a position of authority at that school, I'd bet my life on it.

My husband had a similar childhood... and they became an addict. He didn't fully get well until he was diagnosed with ADHD and finally treated for it. He's been sober 18 years now. It was his untreated ADHD that led to his addiction. I think it's worth finding out if something like that is going on when addiction is involved.

Her family coming in at 4 minutes only escalated everything. I see this dynamic in my own family as well... Some people (speaking about non-addicts) do NOT understand or know how to de-escalate a situation. All they do is project their own feelings onto people. Having a good childhood with loving parents doesn't change the consequences of dealing with an emotionally immature family.

I had been 'oh no!' when read she lapsed after 2 days outside rehab in the sober house, but then did the math, she's 28 and been to rehab 14 times. Starting to see why her sisters seem at the end of their tether with her.
