Love your kids for who they are - not for who you want them to be.

David Died of an Overdose in July of 2023 in Palm Springs Ca. I met him briefly a month before his passing. He was incredibly thin and very paranoid. But I could tell he was a kind person. May he Rest-in- Peace

As an alcoholic in recovery, it's very hard for me to watch him reject help in such away. That was me. It took me 13 years to go to treatment. Sober 9 months. Best decision I've ever made.

If you're reading this and are afraid to make the leap, take this as a sign. Trust me, it's worth it.

I googled his name and he did pass away in July 2023. RIP. David Sax

Coming from a family of doctors and nurse practitioners, and being a 38 year old barista myself (not due to substance abuse-just clinical depression, however my sister died of an overdose), I feel him when being constantly asked if you're destined for greatness and comparing yourself to your infinitely more successful family members. It just makes you not even want to try because you'll never measure up.

Also, seeing a homeless drug addict in a fancy house like that reminds me of the very rare holidays my sister came around for.

It's very refreshing to see a judge that actually has care and compassion for a struggling human being. We need more like him

You can't help someone who isn't ready for it. Thankfully this story had a good ending.

Dave Sr. is Dave Sax, who had about a five-year MLB career, and Uncle Steve is longtime MLB second baseman Steve Sax. Sadly, Steve lost a son last year - John Sax was an officer in the Marines who was killed in a training mission in 2022.

Honestly parents like this set kids like him up to fail. You want them to have passion but not everyone finds it right away. Glad he's been able to stay sober. Good on ya.

His family's perspectives of him vs his best friend is such a contrast. She really cares for him in a way that his family didn't, but sadly it wasn't enough. Shame she couldn't stay for the intervention, she probably would've made it easier. He even called her.

His family were still there for him. Glad he's better now.

So proud of David. Based on other episodes, I can tell that recovering from addiction is hard. His will to stay in the program and start a life of sobriety is so honorable.

346 days in recovery from fentanyl. You can go to all the rehabs all the interventions. Have a loving family. Only the addict can do it and change. You are the only one that can save yourself from yourself. It’s a whole lifestyle change you have to change you whole life. And that’s the scariest part that often leads people back to relapse. Hope anyone out there still struggling gets clean. Your life matters and your a good person. Just a sick person with addiction.❤

Poor man! Get help bro! I had prescription addictions for 7 years! I lost so many jobs, destroyed relationships, and ended many friendships. 😞 now I’m clean, at 33, but it’s like I’m starting life again. Thankfully, I didn’t get arrested, but I lost almost all my connections, from most family and friends. Now I’m starting a new job and I hope to finally finish my masters degree, which I dropped out from due to my addiction. May god bless you all! 🙏

I seriously don’t like the way that dad was talking about how much potential he had when he was younger. And like he wasted it by not being a mlb althlete. The potential wasted was being a normal health happy functioning adult. Stop trying to live through your children. No wonder.

Wow i did not see that ending coming. He was so resistant to treatment I did not think you he was going to go ever! It's a bummer that his sister Jessie and his uncle wasn't there. Sometimes it's that one family member that can make all the difference in the world.
Seeing him 60 days sober blew my mind. Whole different person. Hope you are doing great David. ❤

It’s dark watching this knowing he went right back to being homeless and ended up dying of an OD in 2023
