When I had a bulging disc (L5-S1) the dead hang helped more than anything other stretch or physical therapy

I'm 63 and have severe osteoporosis, fractures and had 3 inchrs of height loss (and I wasn't that tall to start with.) Talk about compression; everything hurt. Started dead hanging just to relieve the pressure for a few seconds. At first, when I let go, I wasn't sure everything was going to line up "right" but within a few seconds I was okay. Didn't necessarily relieve the pain and weirdness but I've now been doing it daily or nearly so for over a year. I've actually regained a 1/2 inch of height, and my pain is vastly reduced. When I couldn't do it (vacation) I started to crave it. Try it! If I can do it, anyone can.

Hey just wanted to say thank you for suggesting this in your video a while back. At the time I had been struggling with rotator cuff pain and had stopped working out for 4 months to let it heal and it wasn't getting any better.

After your suggestion, I started active hanging 45 seconds for 3-5 reps, 5-7 days a week and as I got better at hanging ( I can now easily hang for over a minute) my pain went away little by little and I was able to incorporate some easy calisthenics workouts little by little. Now after about a month and a half, I'm nearly back to my full strength with no pain.

Dead hangs are insanely slept on. I was having back pain when standing for long periods of time. Not only did hanging get rid of all pain, but my posture improved dramatically and my friends even asked me multiple times “did you get taller?”

Gravity boots can be had for £40 now days so hanging upside down is super underated too.
Great ab and back stretch, let's you move around more than an inversion table with less fuss and space taken up.

If you have low back pain from hanging, its because you dont engange the abs and you compress the spine without knowing it
