One style uses fast twitch fibers.
The other style uses slow twitch fiber.
Isometric holds when kept for an extended period of time target the slow twitch fibers.

Fast Twitch muscle fibers fatigue quickly because they use anaerobic glycolysis for obtaining ATP. Think 100 meter sprinters and dynamic calisthenics like the first example.

Slow twitch fibers are areobic in nature. They have a large supply of blood moving through them and many mitochondria. You hear bodybuilders talk about getting a pump when they lift. This is why. Bodybuilders and many calisthenics athletes have developed their slow twitch muscle fibers. Static holds help to develop these slow twitch fibers as they do not fatigue as fast.

As a general rule. If you want to develope your fast twitch fibers you engage in high intensity and lower volume. Say you have a 1 rep max of 50lbs on a pullup. To develope your fast twitch you would train at 80% to 85%, so 40 to 45lbs for 1 to 5 reps. So you might do 10 sets of 2 reps 3 times a week for a month, retest how much you could max out. Repeat the process.

Using the same example of 50lb 1 rep pullup max you want to build hypertrophy. Well, hypertrophy is best trainsd at 60 to 80% for 6 to as much as 20 reps. So you would use 30 to 40lbs and work towards those higher numbers training for multiple months.

Two types of calisthenics:

1. Movement - increases movement of body, reflexes and endurance.

2. Stable - increases stability, balance and strength.

Both are crazy af💯🔥
