A former Calvinistic Reformed Baptist minister and now Director of Apologetics and Professor of Theology, recounts his theological journey in and out of Calvinism. In so doing, Dr. Flowers’ sets out to help his readers understand a non-Calvinistic “Traditional” Southern Baptist interpretation of the most quoted and relied upon chapters for defending Calvinistic soteriology: Romans 8-9; Ephesians 1 and John 6. "In The Potter’s Promise, Dr. Leighton Flowers reveals, by means of a refreshingly clear and persuasive writing style, the theological and philosophical arguments that compelled him to abandon his previously held Calvinistic convictions. While some Traditionalists have a tendency to avoid certain Bible verses, Dr. Flowers tackles them fearlessly, placing them in their proper context in a manner consistent with the entirety of God’s Word. Calvinists have sometimes been known to object to Traditional writers and thinkers by making the claim, “You just don’t understand Calvinism.” Any such charge leveled against Dr. Flowers rings hollow. Having heard all the arguments Calvinism has to offer, he nevertheless d

I totally used to agree with them until the Lord opened my eyes and I realized how actually prideful and arrogant Arminianism actually is and how Calvinism gives all the credit and ALL THE GLORY TO GOD saving His people. He revealed my proud heart that thought of myself better than others BECAUSE I “chose” Him and others didn’t.
Praise Jesus and thank you Jesus for opening my

Alana's husband needs to be trained up on how to handle your wife. She is making a disgrace of his headship. Leighton Flowers is right there to step in as her "spiritual" advisor. What a clown and circus show their whole story is.

The arrogance of Leighton and Alana. They think they're saved because they're smarter than unbelievers. They figured it out. They understood the truth. They produced and take credit for repentance and faith rather than understanding it was a gift granted by God.

All false. A proper Calvinist is humble. I never think this way. I was unsaved before and I am so grateful.

They focus more on rebuking Calvinists than rebuking the false teachers they’re okay with. It’s more arrogant to boast that others can lose their salvation but not them who are going to believe until the end supposedly and keep their salvation and not Christ. That’s arrogant.

Leighton and Alana have drifted into a moralistic conversation here. It is easy to take the moral high ground in any debate/argument. Keith is correct. It is not about any alleged superiority when discussing Calvinism but more about the spiritual Revelation of truth that is there for those who humble themselves before a Holy God.

No man is excluded from calling upon God, the gate of salvation is set open unto all men: neither is there any other thing which keepeth us back from entering in, save only our own unbelief.

Two alleged ex-calvinists think "whosoever" is some grand rebuttal to calvinism, this show they never actually understood the theology. Yeah whosoever believes will be saved, this doesn't mean everyone is then capable of doing so apart from the work of God. If this kind of argumentation is compelling to you as an "ex-calvinist" then I don't believe you ever were really a calvinist.

Keith:
Do you really believe that Leighton and Alana “DO NOT worship the God of the Bible”?
It’s one thing to hold the opinion that a brother or sister in Christ has incorrectly exegeted a text, holds to an erroneous doctrine, or has misunderstood a theological point… BUT
For you to say that a man or woman who professes faith in Jesus Christ, believes the simple gospel of 1 Corinthians 15 & Romans 10, and considers the scriptures to be authoritative for faith and practice is nonetheless worshipping a different God and not the God of the Bible is really going too far, don’t you think 🤔?
Perhaps you’d like to take at least one step back from that statement?

Do you live the Christian life or is it all God. Do you need to yield your will to God daily. Do you need to listen to the Holy Spirit daily?
Do you have to walk in ways of God?
How does God transform you is it all God. Are we in cooperation with God? at times are we not?

Everything between God and man is based in a relational way.
we are commanded to do things not forces or programmed.

Kieth you are just talking about being saved. being saved is a process that God works out in our lives.

Before receiving the Holy Spirit. and after ever Sin you commit you choose to do it. You could have chosen to do differently.
You may in some circumstances but when you receive the Holy Spirit you will have the conviction to do the right thing.
Do not resist the potter you are the clay, yield to the potter and run in his hands, it is the potters desire to make something good. Do not turn it around.
You Calvinist do not understand this.
