COPS have declared a 'critical incident' after an electric bus burst into flames.

Residents in Wimbledon say they "heard a huge bang" before flames were seen coming from the double-decker.

Shocking photos show the blaze engulfing part of the road after the street had been cordoned off.

Locals have been warned to keep their windows and doors shut because of the smoke.

One witness, Max Pashley, told CityAM: "We heard a huge bang. We were terrified."

Not just smoke. Highly toxic smoke accompanied by toxic and environmentally damaging water runoff.
Congratulations on your environmentally friendly decisions.

Can the UK finally begin a balanced discussion to the environmental effects of electric vehicles and also the toxicity of EV fires?

Should be main news but they don't want everyone to know how dangerous they are.

All the politicians demanding we go electric need to get out there and take some big deep breaths of those safe and effective fumes

"Yes Mayor Sad IQ sir, these horrible smoky diesel buses are ruining our capital city's air quality, convert them to battery... oh, hang on a sec... gotta send a fine to that ICE car driver for just being here. Nothing to see here, look, over there, a squirrel."

How much carbon is released due to the burning?

How many gas and diesel vehicles were used or deployed to "mitigate" the ev bus fire? How many more gas and diesel trucks will be used to remove the burnt ev bus and moved to a safe location? So much for greenie dreams.

Don't the events at the post office tell us we need to step back from this insane pushing of electric vehicles and have a rational conversation. It's yet more of the them and us!

Surprised the media were permitted to publish this news as it goes against the green hippie crusade of "we all must have electric cars"

And they want everyone to own EVs, and plug them in on their driveways, right next to the house. What could possibly go wrong?

Look at all that saving of the environment going on there! lul. Much cleaner to be in a diesel bus.

Clown show continues... Anyone who's kids use these EVs should be asking some serious questions.

I go to school in Wimbledon. This delayed me and nearly made many students late.
Whatever happened, the bus shouldn’t have been on fire. I didn’t realise that the smoke was toxic until my parents informed me when I got back home. Thanks tfl-

At least with a diesel bus the engine is at the back of the bus so that if theres a fire its easy to get everyone out but for an elctric bus the battery is all the way along its length.

Maybe we can use the heat from these EV fires to keep warm because these heat pumps we are being forced to have are only making homes warmer by a few degrees.

All that smoke is emission free as it is an electric bus no doubt
