How much Omega 3 do I need to lower triglycerides
Показать описание
High dose Omega-3 is considered a Treatment for Triglycerides. How much do you need to take?
Some people take omega-3 fatty acids for the express purpose of lowering their triglyceride levels. In fact, there is a couple of drugs on the market that are indicated for treating people with very high triglyceride levels, which is triglycerides over 500, which is quite high. And the treatment is fish oil. It's a high dose, high concentrated fish oil. And so question is, how much do you need to take to lower triglycerides? The Food and Drug Administration says 4G a day. That's what the approved dose is. And that will lower your triglycerides in those people 20/30%, which is a pretty good effect. Most people don't need to take Omega threes to lower triglycerides because they don't have a high triglyceride problem, but they do have a low omega-3 problem even if they haven't got high triglycerides. And so again, the marker that we like to look at is not so much the blood triglyceride level, it's the omega-3 index in the blood. And we want to see that omega-3 index over 8%. And it takes maybe a gram to a gram and a half of omega-3, not 4G, to get an omega-3 index up in that healthy zone on average.
