The Highest Omega-3 Dose Ever Studied (25 grams per day)

Показать описание
When Dr. Bill Harris began researching omega-3 in the early 1980s, he was looking for an impact on cholesterol with what would be considered a high dose by today's standards: around 25 effective grams per day of omega-3 from salmon. However, rather than finding an effect on cholesterol, they found a nearly 80% drop in triglycerides among patients with Fredrickson Type V hypertriglyceridemia.

While this dose is, no doubt, clinically excessive, the tolerability of even high doses used in the past provides context on just how hard it is to determine a true "tolerable upper intake level" when it comes to omega-3. Listen for discussion of bleeding risk, omega-6 to omega-3 ratios, how the FDA set the recommended dose of prescription omega-3, and more.

I like that she allows her guests to speak and complete their thoughts without constantly interrupting. Great interview.

I'm a big believer in fish oil as it lowered my triglycerides. However, if I take a teaspoon of fish oil per day, after three days, I have heart palpitations. I do eat salmon on average about twice per week. I will experiment by taking my teaspoon twice per week. Heart palpitations are frightening.

I've just discovered I love tinned mackerel in spring water, I've started eating 300g with my grass-fed beef. I love it and happy I've discovered I do.

I'm over 400 just my triglycerides. Heridatary from my parents. My diet is difficult due to kidney disease. Do not like sea food whatsoever. Started Omega-3 bombs, I really hope this helps.

Why does he say you can't fix the ratio by lowering the intake of omega 6, when that is far more plentiful in our diet that in times past? Nearly every packaged food you buy today has some sort of seed oil in it. Upping your omega 3 to fix the ratio, doesn't remove the unnecessary intake of omega 6,

I have a 2 years old daughter with Global Developmental delay. She've just got head surgery to have a bigger space for her brain. So I think I need some brain booster for her. How much Fish oil she needs to consume each day? I read on internet that for 1-3 years old kids they need about 600mg omega 3, but on the fish oil package like Blackmore Odorless it is stated the dosage for kids 2-12 years is to take 300mg or 1 capsule per day. Is it save to take 2 capsules per day for my girl? We are South East Asian. Thanks before.

For me, 1000mg every other day is perfect. I recently took it daily for about a week and experienced several negative effects which I ended up finding out were all side effects of too much omega-3:

- nose bleed
- bleeding (not on my period, and I normally only "spot" because I have an IUD)
- anxious for no reason (that feeling you have when you've got adrenal fatigue)
- trouble falling asleep (lying in bed for several hours, again, feeling like I have adrenal fatigue)
- can't go back to sleep after waking up around 2 or 3am (normally can go back to sleep within half hour)
- diarrhea (normally have trouble with constipation, if anything)
- breasts increased 1-1.5 cup sizes due to fibrocystic breast inflammation; breast pain/soreness (haven't had this happen to this extent in years)
