Good redirect! I cared for a lady who was blind. During a bad Texas storm, she frantically felt and called for her dog, Nikko, who died years ago.

I said, "When it storms my cat hides under the bed. Does Nikko like to do that?"

All of a sudden she relaxed and agreed, she was probably under the bed.🐕🤗❤️

Mine isnt at this point yet but i agree that its best just to meet them where they are. If they don't remember, there's no need to re-traumatize them.

My resident is actually the complete opposite and needs us to tell her that her husband passed. Otherwise she'd suddenly be like "Waitva minute, didn't ny husband die a few years ago? Why are you lying to me?!?!" And then she'll get aggravated before repeating herself again asking where her husband is. If you tell her he passed she'll just go "Oh okay! That's right, I remember now."

Hubby asked those questions Is Bobby dead? . I tell him Bobby is alive, So we call Bobby and talk about old times.
