My LO is in the latter stages and slid into it so suddenly .Shes begun hitting and throwing g water at is(all the caregivers and me, I am living in her house full time to care for her )…getting violent and has also been on hospice three months.
Today the nurse gave me a wake up call, when I called asking for help because my LO won’t take her meds or even water or let me put on balm on her lips.
The nurse said, maybe she needs to process what is happening to her and needs some time to reflect.(instead of coming out to give her a shot of morphine)(she won’t drink it or take is through bucchal injection).(nor the Halidol in water I offered every hour today).Anyway, this nurse and you are definitely what I needed to hear.
I can’t fix it.I was trying to chase Moms pain and I can’t.But I tried.
Maybe I will go back in there and say I see her.Right now:deep breaths.
Thank you.

I'm so thankful I came across this video. My mom has stage 4 dementia and has kicked me out from visit several times. I don't have a car so I can't get there very often and when she kicks me out it just about tears me apart. Maybe this will help next time I'm able to see her. Thank you.

I do this with my dad. It helps. I say "Dad that must be so frustrating", and every time he looks directly at me and says with real heart, "It is"! And then he usually always moves on from it.

Mom has been crying on and off for 24 he's. She says she's upset but doesn't want to tell me or talk about it. I'm at a loss.

Another question (if you don't mind). What would you suggest for a person living with dementia who refuses to shower. We have tried all the basics. There is no history of a bad experience with water. They get violent.
