I'm a diabetic since the age of nine years and I am now fifty years old age. I changed my dietary habits quite considerably over the last thirteen months  by limiting drastically my consumption of carbohydrates mainly potatoes and bread, I now have better control of daily blood glucose level and subsequently losing weight fairly quickly because I'm using less insulin. Lots of hypos and less muscle mass but if I consume more carbs than usual my glucose level increases rapidly. It's very difficult to maintain a happy medium where type 1 diabetes is concerned but this method that I use to maintain my glucose level and weight stability really works but a lot of times I feel really bolloxed.

Sorry but if you are a doctor who has to tell your type 1 diabetic patients that they can't eat what they want to anymore, that just means that you're pretty shit at your job 🤷‍♀ The types of rapid acting insulins we have today should allow type 1s to have the same dietary freedom as everyone else if they learn how to dose their insulin properly. I'm a type 1 myself and I eat exactly what I want, when I want and i still maintain an A1C of 5.3% and a TIR measured by my Freestyle libre of 98% 👌 Seriously, this outdated mindset that type 1 diabetics need to follow some sort of special diet needs to stop...
